@flexghost I really do believe that a portion of the voters for Haley will sit out. They voted for her months after she dropped out. If 2% of trump voters stay home that's a landslide victory for Biden. I've read several testimonies from former republicans on twitter that I follow (Fellas) who say they will never vote for trump. George Conway donated the maximum allowable to Biden. These aren't isolated stories. A small percentage staying home and even one percent switching to Biden will wipe out any problem with the far left hamas supporters that may have voted for Biden last time. Most of the propaganda is about how powerful trump is. We can't be complacent, but the enthusiasm isn't there. His rallies are much smaller. He makes a lot more rambling speeches that nobody is interested in hearing. For many the spell has been broken.

Also, Taylor Swift is on our side.

Also, now that Ukraine has ammunition again russia is losing and their propaganda is starting to fall apart.

@flexghost It was like Xmess and New Year and Fourth of July all in one day. All in one moment I realized we had finally changed course as a country and subsequently as a world. Ukraine will prevail and fascism will fail. Society will progress and begin to work on serious issues like climate change. The old lead-poisoned backwards thinking minds will age out and a better world will emerge.

@flexghost This song is VERY 80s because it got into heavy rotation on MTV right when it was first becoming popular and not many groups had put out videos yet. For kids in the midwest this was something exotic and futuristic. It definitely seemed like the dawning of a new age right when we were coming of age.

@flexghost In a way the passenger screwing with the aircraft is definitely related. When saying no to the boss means you get to hang by your neck slowly twisting in the wind until you are dead and displayed at the center of town for all to see it has a significant impact (pun!) on your thought process. The hubris and violence of the Iranian regime got them all killed. A pilot not operating out of desperation would never have made that flight with that aircraft in those conditions. They were at like 8,000 feet in an ancient helicopter with restricted spare parts and shouldn't be flying like that even in clear weather.

@flexghost I think the change makes sense to a fair extent. Vinyl LPs determined the length of an album and rock albums in the 70s were the length of an LP because an LP at 33 1/3rpm was designed to be long enough for a symphonic movement without changing sides. It makes less sense now to conform to a physical technology from 100 years ago that was designed to accommodate music from 500 years ago. My current favorites to listen to, Meg Myers and the band Night Club, happen to make good albums but I don't see it as necessary. I'm an odd ball in my musical needs too because my car is so old that it has a CD player and no way to interface with a phone.

@flexghost The sax reminds me of I think the only sax music I've liked was Rio from Duran Duran which is a pretty good album too if you like 80s pop. Those guys can actually play their instruments and were something really new and different at that time. Maybe INXS had sax too? INXS: Kick was a pretty good pop-rock album in its day.

After the 90s it seems that albums weren't as much a focus for artists, probably because media changed as the physical formats became less relevant. Of course, my personal bias factors in here quite a bit but it does seem like albums aren't talked about much as individual works anymore.

In the span of two nights russia lost a military transport ship, a submarine, the use of two of three dry docks they have in the Black Sea, and a very expensive S-400 air defense system. All of this in Crimea. This is an indication of a military that can't defend itself.

FFS to track the ruble you have to go to 4 decimal points. They jacked up interest rates at about 8/14 to get it to go from .0097 to .0107 and it's already back down to .0105 a week and a half later. They're screwed. At the same time UA special forces are blowing up the $500,000,000 S-400 system in Crimea and pootin shot down prickozin way too soon while propagandists still depended on his stolen Africa money and the remaining wagner troops are still grouped next door in Belarus. Oh, and the ru "impenetrable" Zaporizhzhia defense lines appear to be broken. P.S. the Kerch bridge is still in limbo.
