One thing I love about the area where we're staying is the majority of people's front gardens are full of country cottage plants. Combined with the abundance of wildlife it's absolutely beautiful. We have a family, or two as there are so many, of fledgling wrens just outside our rented cottage's kitchen window chirping away happily.
I am honestly stuck with what to do about Instagram.
Meta are AI scraping and saying all publicly posted photography is fair game. I use IG to keep up with photobook publishers and photography galleries. Although I do post some of my work, I don't post my so called 'a-grade' work because I have invested so much money and time into it. They are all kept for exhibitions and, hopefully, fine art photographic monographs.
So..... this AI shit is really, really doing my head in. Think I'm gonna have to make the decision to quit Instagram at some point.
When I closed my FB account I made sure to delete everything individually where I was able to. Yes, I downloaded my archive yet in all honesty it's just sat there in a folder on my computer taking up space and will probably get deleted shortly too.
I keep my IG to a minimum, it was 90 posts, I've just taken it down to 30. I'm not precious with my posts, they're not important to me they're just there to show my work.... even then they're not getting much, if any, reach regardless. 🤷🏻♂️
@ItsThatDeafGuy I've just found a buried option to download everything (although had to change it to high res images, as it assumes you don't want that 🙄 ) so I'm waiting for an email to tell me it's ready.
They really are a nightmare to deal with. I did similar to you with Facebook, went through and deleted everything manually just left an empty account, going to do the same with Insta, maybe just put a single image saying "go to my website".
@ItsThatDeafGuy@geoglyphentropy it is so common in rural areas! I get it, they’re often one-person shops, and there isn’t really a great alternative, but it is incredibly frustrating to need to Facebook account (which I don’t have) to check the hours of a shop, or to learn that they’re closed due to an unforeseen family issue or something.
Dear UK #Students, get yourselves on the #ElectoralRoll right now as you will be at home in July. Tell you families, tell your neighbours, tell your friends.
Just learned that later-built American campuses have been designed in such a way as to prevent protests, where the armed police can take the higher ground to control the protesters and in such a way that it's very easy to kettle those people. More shockingly they are designed so that if the establishment fails the campus can be easily turned into a prison.
