I am honestly stuck with what to do about Instagram.
Meta are AI scraping and saying all publicly posted photography is fair game. I use IG to keep up with photobook publishers and photography galleries. Although I do post some of my work, I don't post my so called 'a-grade' work because I have invested so much money and time into it. They are all kept for exhibitions and, hopefully, fine art photographic monographs.
So..... this AI shit is really, really doing my head in. Think I'm gonna have to make the decision to quit Instagram at some point.
When I closed my FB account I made sure to delete everything individually where I was able to. Yes, I downloaded my archive yet in all honesty it's just sat there in a folder on my computer taking up space and will probably get deleted shortly too.
I keep my IG to a minimum, it was 90 posts, I've just taken it down to 30. I'm not precious with my posts, they're not important to me they're just there to show my work.... even then they're not getting much, if any, reach regardless. 🤷🏻♂️
So I haven't delved too deeply into the election stuff yet, but I keep hearing "Let’s not go back to square one" from Sunak.
What is "square one"?
Because if it means back to where we were as a country in 2010 before the Conservatives won the election surely almost everyone would say "Oh yes, bring it on".
I mean, that's got to be in the high 90s percent wise, surely?

So, just to be clear, if the Tories lose the election (which seems likely) and Labour then decide not to continue the policy of deportation to Rwanda... what happens to all the money (over £200m) so far transferred to Rwanda?
Can we expect a claw-back or should we just add it to the growing pile of money the Tories threw away (or more accurately thew to their mates)?

4 July would be quite the choice for Scottish voters with kids. It's the 1st week of the school summer holidays & quite frequently when folk go away as it's cheaper (many places don't increase the prices until the English break up).
I suspect they just have no idea the school terms are different (particularly as I think private schools tend to mirror English dates) but could lead to a lovely conspiracy that they want to reduce the Scottish vote.
Since Microsoft announced their latest spyware, sorry, #ReCall, People want to jump ship to #Linux so I'm gonna give the community some solid advice. The biggest hurtle new users will have to deal with is the community because, to be honest, they are extremely obnoxious FOSS Bros that can't stand newbies or Windows users or non technical people in general, but here's your chance! Here's a chance to really guide people, not badger them into picking Linux just because.
Don't tell a new person to Google the term. Give them a video, a book, a tutorial, something to help them along. Think it's hand holding? Tough luck.
Don't ask them to register to a forum and provide feedback. Offer to give feedback on their behalf.
As for any Disabled person in your life? Just don't recommend Linux yet at all. It's still not ready for non technical Disabled people. Just no! No!

I Debloated my own windows, so I stick with that. Just listen to the Disabled community without telling them they don't know why Microsoft is shit. I laughed, it's funny, but while I was boosting and favoring it made me think about my new home. I moved in a small bit ago and I have still yet to meet all but one retiree.
No one says hello, no one stopped to welcome me or ask questions. A few have waved as they drive by and park in their garages. But they shut the doors as their cars are shutting down. I was three states away from this place a year ago and the neighborhood was much the same.
I remember when neighbors were bothersome. When you would come home and find someone sitting outside or walking their dog and they would want to strike up a conversation.
I'm curious how things will look in coming years. Will we form tighter groups with our neighborhoods, or will we further splinter, I wonder...
@mentallyalex depends where you are I guess. North Yorkshirians, baked in people of Cumbria & Geordies are generally chatty. However, times have moved on, papers have pushed 'stranger danger', the once left open front doors are now locked. Socialising in the local pub now costs a lot of money so many no longer go out. So yeah, far less chatty these days as it goes.... and will probably get worse. Mobile so-called 'smart' phones and the 'always-on' culture is not helping either.
So, does Discord no longer allowed users to register accounts without registering a phone number?
They have "detected an anomaly" with a new account I just attempted to make and have assured me that I can quickly clear things up if I just give them a phone number.
