    He also smells, to me at least, of childhood fear and sadness. Don't hate him ( which will confirm his own hatred of others).

    Pity him - loudly and publicly - for hating himself and turning it onto everyone else, for thinking that power over others and/or money in the bank will fill the emptiness inside.

    And all the rest of the manbaby billionaires and wannabees too. They're pitiable. Laughable, in fact.

    JMacfie,
    @JMacfie@mastodon.scot avatar

    @DrALJONES @maggiemartin But that's really a discussion on the genesis of psychopathy and sociopathy. The end result is the same and yes, we have to restructure things so we don't hand those people power. Capitalism and the worship of wealth have a lot to answer for.
    I still try to pity, not hate - even Trump, the quintessential manbaby. His mother was from Lewis, where strict Christian fundamentalism is extant: ferries on Sundays are a recent innovation.

    JMacfie,
    @JMacfie@mastodon.scot avatar

    @DrALJONES @maggiemartin I used to think that too - till I read that he was reared in a strict, fundamentalist Christian family, the kind that majors in punishment, not love. Added to his lack of care for his appearance, I began to see him differently.

    Plus a pal who was chair of the governors at Ashworth told me when she read the files on the inmates, from birth they had only known neglect, abuse, violence, pain; they thought that was how people show love.

    Again, no mention of the #Board. #AlicePerkins, then #TimParker chaired the #PostOffice Board and should have been asking hard questions as soon as the first wisp of scandal appeared.

    But unlike #PaulaVennells they both went to #Oxford.
    Jonathan Evans and Alan Cook - the latter CEO of the Financial Ombudsman Service at the same time as being non-exec at the PO - why aren't they being mentioned?

    Have a look at this wonderful work by a longtime friend and neighbour. And if you like it, boost it.

    Facebook won't let anyone post the link, now, possibly because Jane has spent a lot of time making work about . If she'd only made some pro-Trump installations, I'm sure there wouldn't be a problem.

    I really wanted "Return of the Nakbah" to tour again, an extraordinary work, but it's in storage in : the government will not let it be moved.

    Ms Toynbee still banging the drum for Labour. It's one of the reasons I won't give the Guardian any of my money - they only see Scottish politics through a London lens.

    We could have had this if the UK government hadn't long ago been subverted by the oil and gas lobby. And if our politicians weren't nearly all self-servatives.

    Scandinavian electoral systems help, too.

    Just seen an article in the Guardian about fuel prices which mentions that the average price of is £139.7p a litre, the lowest level since Oct 2021.

    Fellow Britons, you are being taken for a ride. In Thailand which has no oilfields, only natural gas and so has to import all its petrol, the price at the pump is about 84p.

    Scotland - it's time to cut ourselves loose from England. Parliament is now officially a joke in the worst possible taste. This collision of historical precedent and politics is just not working.

    Once upon a time, long long ago, you might have expected to read this in a national newspaper - the Sunday Times under Harold Evans, or the Guardian until a few years ago when it went corporate, or the Daily Mirror (which was on the side of Labour and Labour was on the side of the working class everywhere)

    Now only people like Byline Times and Bella Caledonia dare speak the truth.

    Their lack of courage is exceeded only by their lack of any kind of morality. They've reduced the UK to a rotting hulk. And now they'll all get six months' severance pay at our expense while they find cosy directorships to settle into.

    Spare me the " supports thousands of rural jobs" schtick, please. Those jobs are mostly seasonal, poorly paid and precarious. Were those moors not regularly burned and devastated as part of the grouse shooting business, they'd regenerate, improve the climate and become an environment where better, reliable jobs would thrive.

    Bedmaking is a full body workout, as is cleaning a bath ( if you do it properly). Lugging a vacuum cleaner, or two heavy bags of shopping, or a toddler, up a flight of stairs is quite intense, too. Hanging up laundry on a line or pulley involves bends and stretches. Housework is an exercise regime in itself.
