What “hybrid cloud” actually means to us. Where it works well, where it creates challenges, where the control plane should live, how to abstract differences between platforms to make workloads more suitable to be used in a hybrid setup, maintaining compliance across clouds, and guarding against security vulnerabilities in containerised dependencies.

In the latest episode (278) of @LateNightLinux Popey (sorry mate, really not sure about how to ref you here) says something to the effect of: "when i was told I can choose to not use windows, i thought what a prick", and then explains how he goes on to realise that: yes, his own choices have landed him where he is, and he can seek different pastures.

Well, i had a similar discussion with a colleague some time ago saying: "imagine corporate came and told us...

Another shoutout re Late Night Linux podcasts - these discussions are just so good, you should subscribe. Calm, friendly and informative. General interest linux, nice analysis of recent xz backdoor, & so forth. Even stuff that is outside my area (no sysadmin or dev experience) is interesting - it's cool to hear about how stuff works, basically. Planning to actually drop some cash on a subscription once I get my paypal to play nice with patreon.

@LateNightLinux Hey, I've just stumbled across Your podcast here and find it interesting.
It took me a while to figure out how to open the .rss file and to find the rss URL in there. Maybe it would be useful to write just "https://latenightlinux.com/feed/mp3" next to the link, for lower level nerds like me. 😅

LateNightLinux,
@LateNightLinux@mastodon.cloud avatar

@LittleJoeMuc hi. Most people just search their podcast app, but I assumed that most people who want the raw RSS feed would just right click copy link location. Looks like I was wrong. Glad you got it sorted in the end though. Joe

We are joined by @jorge for an update on the world of what used to be called immutable Linux. Jorge doesn’t really like that word. He prefers “composable” Linux. Whatever you want to call it, we’re talking about an image-based approach to desktop Linux – built with cloud native technologies – that allows you to build and deploy anything from the ultimate developer workstation to a basic Chromebook-like experience for a non-technical relative.
