Can you name a film that was adapted not from a novel, but from a short story?
Here's one:

The Illusionist (2006)

- How would your characters attempt to catch a leprechaun?

Janet's uniform is so many colors, the leprechaun would mistake it for a rainbow and attempt to bury gold under her.

Writing ritual: stare at the computer screen for ages, stay stuck. Turn off computer, take a shower, figure out plot hole while soaking wet.

@Robotron OK, now I'm REALLY curious about the "2 terrifying alternate endings!"

Least favorite trope: the screaming argument that leads to sex, especially when the argument is over his sexist or generally jerkish behavior toward her.

    THE PELICAN HAS LANDED!
The galaxy is a mess: wars, robot uprisings, Jupiterans making bad holofilms, Plutonians insisting they have a real planet, and Earthlings kissing (which is unhygienic and resembles cannibalism). In the Pelican Nebula, the Cygnoids call a peace conference to announce a non-optional solution: obey them or be subjected to the unthinkable agony of their new weapon, the Civilizer.

Martian: If I was the MC, the computer would behave.

Lola: If I was the MC, the crew would behave.

Frink: If I was the MC, my itchy kleptomaniac fingers would still not behave.

    Pietro: I'm not the MC?

    Welcome to The Cosmic Turkey.

I rarely reread, because there are so many more books on my TBR that I haven't gotten to yet. So when I'm done with a book, I either pass it along to a friend or the local used bookstore.

What does your MC hear if they open the window?

Nothing. Janet lives on a spaceship. And in space, no one can hear you yell "Why is that window open?!"

Janet is in no danger of being fashionable. Janet's 8-color uniform was designed by a committee.

I love writing because we're all stuck with having only one life, and I get to live so many others through imagination.

Writing the first chapter is infinitely easier than the last. There are endless possibilities ahead, and the story in my head looks glorious.

By the time I get to the end, I've made a zillion compromises so the story doesn't look like the one in my head. Endings are harder to nail.

But when I do nail the ending, and hit all the notes that the story needs, magic happens.

I'm good at writing dialogue-heavy scenes. Description is more difficult for me. I have to put in extra effort to make sure the weird and wonderful SF world in my head gets translated to the page.
