What happened to all the baddies you knew growing up?

I don’t know if this is something people say in other countries, but in my country, there’s this common cliché or “wisdom” where adults will assure you that the people who picked on you in environments like school will universally develop lives of hardship later on, one way or another getting into mayhem....

One died in a car accident, the other main one had a lot of babies who now have their own babies. I moved continents and changed my name through marriage before I opened any social media accounts, so I have no idea what happened to the bulk of them.

Husband and I have a standing bet to be the first person to do 10 handstand pushups on a stage. Not sure why the stage is involved, and I can’t remember what the prize is. Also it’s been over 5 years since we made it, and neither of us can do a single one yet. But I think of it often.

I make about $7k a year from some books and T-shirt designs I did a few years ago. I literally do nothing to maintain them (I put in the hard work making them originally) and the money just goes in my bank each month. It’s certainly not enough to live on, I have a full time job, but it pays for our groceries.

I publish through Amazon Print on Demand services (Amazon Merch and KDP), and I have a few other stores selling items too. Basically I design the manuscripts and graphics, upload the files to the service, they list it, and when it sells they print and fulfill it and send me a portion of the profit.

One Christmas I made $8k in a month and we went on a cruise with the profit. Those were good times! It’s settled down a bit now as more people have flooded the platforms and copied all the content.

Three 27" monitors. Right one is portrait, has Slack and music player split screen, left is email or reference material, center one is for doing the actual work.

I work in a customer facing role but also do graphic design, write books, make music, and occasionally code things.

Massive productivity boost. When I work from my laptop I feel like a grandma.

My husband once said “we’re not killing the planet, we’re just rearranging it in a way that is not conducive to human life”. I think about that when I feel hopeless, we’re just a blip on a bigger radar, and we need to drop the main character syndrome that the world dies when we do.

Also though, scalp the 1%.

First week of new job, late 20s. Just started keto and trusted a fart. Managed to cut it off fairly quickly so it was just a small moist spot that I could somewhat mop up, but I had to sit in an orientation for an hour before I could drive off to buy a change of knickers.

Keto farts are risky business.
