y'all.

We have a garden full of flying and buzzing visitors.

Here is a stripy bum bee in our Thermopsis flowers.

Not the correct term, but it's my personal name.

😁

Well, this has to be one of the most unpleasant things I have ever had the displeasure of eating.

Imagine ultra congealed Stork margarine, and you won't be far off.

Nasty @druid forced me to eat one.

Ew!

Part of brain:

It's a lovely spring day. The birds are singing and the sun is shinni... 🌞

Other part of brain:

NO.

I long to be enveloped by the eternal darkness of night, where utter silence absorbs all. Like the futility of entering an event horizon, I'm pulled towards the soft, comforting emptiness of unconsciousness.💀

Another part of brain:

Perhaps I just need a nice cup of coffee. ☕😊

@druid coffee makes everything better and MY coffee is the best there is...♥️🙂

Happy y'all.

Our are late this year.

We have seedlings from the stellar strain popping up everywhere.

Not the best of Wednesdays, unfortunately.

I'm sitting with my mum in our local hospital as she recovers from a mild heart attack, brought on my her copd.and chest problems.

My poor mum has been suffering with a whole array of issues for years, so this is the last thing she needs.

It's so hard watching someone you love and who has sacrificed so much for us as children being in such pain and torment.

Big changes ahead and hopefully a better quality of life.

Fingers crossed.

Good morning from our rather packed garden.

This has been a combination of ten year's work and I am really happy with what we have created.

We have something of interest for every week of the year.

We have flowers, foliage, coloured stems, fruit and berries.

The majority of our flowers are single & ideal for pollinators.

We have also selected many plants that have spectacular autumn colour.

Wen have a wide array of wildlife including banded woodland slugs & hundreds of different insects.

Well, my over ripe jelly beans, we are languishing in Costa, down in the ancient town of Cowbridge.

Old stomping ground of Iolo Morgannwg, the architect and instigator of the druidic revival.

It's bloody freezing...and the Costa has no actual food.

Me and @druid have been to our very first plant show of the year, which was held in the old physic gardens.

And, yes, we managed to buy a few things....as if we need any more plants.

We have a very brave wysteria that has decided to flower in this arctic chill.

Hosta Fire Dance is a seedling of Kempen Red Twist but with a more upright habit and dark aubergine coloured stems.

Happy Thursday.

Well folks, I seem to have the worse cold imaginable.

And yes, I am the world's worse patient too.

Had hardly any sleep last night, and my nose feels a few arctic trucks have been trundling through it.

Any cold remedies or advice that work for you will be greatly appreciated.

Achoo!

@martinhowitt sound logic...may have to swap the Guiness for champagne though. I'm funny like that. 😄

Happy Wednesday.

It was @druid s mum's funeral yesterday.

I think the day couldn't have been any better.

Lovely spring sunshine & plenty of attendees wearing something pink (as per the request).

Life is never a straight line and there will be highs and lots of lows.

So, as we walk hand in hand into the future that has one heartbeat less than it had before.

One less smiling face,
One less listening ear,
One less source of comfort.

We will have each other and we will find a way

Together.

What do you think?
Ignore the fact that I've got odd socks on...

It's a breezy one, here in the valley.
Black crows are darting and flitting about like soot off a wayward candle.

Our magnificent tree has begun casting off its shell pink, boat shaped petals, and the delicate foliage of our is dancing in the wind.

Meanwhile, much closer to the earth, our have begun to open up.

Delicate in appearance but quite tough. These little beauties are well worth searching for.

Happy Wednesday from a dull and overcast valley.

Things are trying to bring cheer to our lives everywhere we look.

This is our only yellow flowered magnolia called Butterflies. It's new to us this year.

The blooms fade gracefully to more of a Jersey cream colour as they open but are at their most buttery when in bud.

Very pretty though.

Good morning and a to you all.

I have bought corms for the last three years.

The first year, they were white...
The second year, they were purple...

And this year, they are striped purple and white...

I have therefore concluded that there must be a world shortage of yellow crocus.

Does anyone else have problems with rogue bulbs?

They are very pretty but sadly still not yellow.

Happy Friday.

A blustery day here in the valley.
Feels good to be out and in the garden though.

May the sun shine on your breakfast cereal of choice.

I have made the really difficult decision to resign from my present role today...

Square peg and round hole come to mind...

So, if anybody is looking for a mental health trainer and facilitator with over 30 years community engagement experience then I'll be sitting quietly, drinking tea and planning my next future steps.

Our camellias are a little bit early this year.

This one is called Nuccio's Amigo and has these impossibly large peony type blooms.

Young branches are dragged down by the weight of these wonderful flowers.

The inner petals are paler in colour than the outers, which is a nice feature.

They do well in our South West facing garden. 😊

Evening, we've been to today.

It's more of a pilgrimage than an ordinary journey and takes around 2 hours to get there.

Well worth it though.

We go to pay homage to the beautiful and that are on sale in abundant quantities.

The limitations of posting only 4 photos is somewhat annoying, but here goes.

Beautiful Ashwood double red hellebore.
Ashwood double yellow hellebore with pink picotee edge.
Ashwood single yellow with golden nectaries.

Conifers aren't seen as being very trendy anymore.

However, it is nice to have something a bit different if you want some interest, even in a small .

May I present to you Pinus sylvestris Gold Coin.

A neat and tidy and slow growing version of our Scots but with the gorgeous advantage of the needles turning a warm old gold as the winter temperatures drop.

Don't worry, it's not dead. The needles regain their green hue once the warmer temperatures of spring return.
