@paul I dabble in Blue Sky, but I’d rather remain Mastodon. Sad part is, I think more people are going for Blue Sky for some reason.

@paul It has all the components for the masses to see and want to be a part of it. Hype, and exclusivity .

As much as I enjoy Mastodon, it’s early sign up issues and lack of hype are what have slowed down interest. IMHO

  • I'm so fucking glad the social web wasn't around when I was a kid, to preserve my every idiotic, prejudiced teenage outburst forever.

  • Before mobile phones, you made plans with your mates, arranged a time and a place and that was it. If you weren't there, you were fucked. Now, everything is ad hoc, nothing is committed.

  • Online shopping is so convenient that Derby city centre is now a ghost town of boarded up shops. I miss shops.

The bluesky app is unusable for me. I follow just a handful of people, yet my timeline is a chaos of replies to people I do not follow.
How is that a good experience?
Guess I'll have to make an app just to add filters to that timeline.
