30. Are you comfortable writing from a child's POV? Written any?

I'm not very keen on children. I don't have any and don't spend much time with or thinking about them. I'd rather interact with animals. In fact, I'm the awkward person at any family gathering who is squatted down next to the dog bed so I don't have to oo and ahh over the latest toddler antics.
So, no. I'm not comfortable writing from a child's POV. 😂

#WritersCoffeeClub #write Ch 9 Nbr 30 — How do you achieve a sense of wonder in your stories?

That isn't an emotion I am for. Creepy yes, sad, frustrated, romantic. Sure but the word wonder has never entered my head.

@NaraMoore@sakurajima.moe avatar

330 — How does your MC go about expressing or not expressing their sexuality?

Shiro is an exhibitionist and Kao a sub. Sorry no detail will be given here.

Ume and Shiomi are Disaster Lesbians, which means they are terrible at communicating. They are convinced at first they don't like each other and then they believe the other is acting out of duty.

30 Are you comfortable writing from the POV of a child? Written any?

Doesn't look like it. The few stories I've done about children are 3rd person. I don't think I would mind doing it for flash or microfiction but anything longer would tax that voice too much.

No it's not. It's a Möbius strip which is why if travel in a straight line long enough you will always arrive back at where you started.

Another two chapters through beta, one more to go before I start the main quest of volume II.

But first I owe beta reading 7 chapters.

29. How would your MC handle finding a spider in their home?

Narrative characters:
Shiro would ask Kao to remove it.
Ume would probably watch it for a bit and then ignore it.

29. What's the average time to complete a writing project between the idea and publishing/making it available?

Depends on the project. Drabble I can finish in a day, though two is nice for a final edit. A 1-2K story ideally will take two weeks, 3-4 if I have it betaed. A 12K novel or series of volumes has usually taken me about a year from start to finish.

My average 180K a year.

329 — How is your SC typically seen by others? Does it ring true to who they really are?

Kan-chan is seen as a shy, unfashionable, nerdy girl. Anti-social. Someone easy to influence by offering superficial friendship.

As far as that goes probably true. What they don't see is a woman looking for acceptance. Who remains true to herself, even if that is behind closed doors where no one can see.

Tomo is often perceived as a rude person. He also presents as very strong. Those who know him understand that while he is a little rough he means well and doesn't mean to hurt peoples feelings. He is also not as strong as either he or others see him.

#writerscoffeeclub #writing 28. Do you have advice for other writers you have yet to hear from different sources?

Decide if you're in it for the money, recognition, or yourself. Then set your goals accordingly.

NaraMoore,

@oceaniceternity

Excellent plan.

I would share the one-person fandoms I have written for, but then they might become two-person fandoms.

(This has happened to me, joined by a lewd self-insert RP writer.]

A worthy if unrealistic goal.

May I suggest that AI fiction is the shortest and most worthy route for this goal? You at least might end up with money for nothing.

What's the ideal story length? Use any definition of length you like, not just word count.

I don't think there is one 🤔 Unless I'm not enjoying a book, then it should be short. 🤣 If I love the story it should go on for a long time. 😀

NaraMoore,
@NaraMoore@sakurajima.moe avatar

@crcollins

You forgot it should be shorter because I should be sleeping not reading.

(Nice reply though, I enjoyed it.)

327 — How much does your MC value other people? Do they wish to have many friends, lovers, and / or associates? Are they an easy person to love?

My narrative characters tend to have limited social interests. One or two close friends or a small family of choice. My LI's tend to be only interested in the people in their family of choice.

The narrative character is charismatic. The LI's are eccentric nerds that most people avoid.

Are they easy to love: It is easy for the Narrative character and LI to love each other that that is all they care about.

#wordweavers #writing 27. What would your ideal writing group be like?

Intelligent people who are serious about their writing. An interest in Japanese literature, tolerate of R18. People who have posted or are published. Not the art literary crowd, but folks that want to write entertaining fiction.

27. What's the ideal story length? Use any definition of length you like, not just word count.

I don't know how to answer this. That is like asking what is fav of something. It depends on what the story is. I write anything from microfictin, drabble (100 words exactly) to 120-word novels.

I currently aim at 2-3 volumes of about 40,000 words.

#WordWeavers #writing 24-05-25 How often do your characters think of death?

It's not a plot or narrative point but given the antag is undead and out to kill them, I would imagine they think about death quite frequently.

In the early parts of "My Girlfriend Almost Got Me Killed," Shiro mentions several times that one reason she's not sure she wants to establish a long-term relationship with Kaori is Kao might get them both killed.

Tomo in Konbini Idol mentions several times that he is less than thrilled that Ume brings home a woman who is cursed and might get them killed.

NaraMoore, (edited ) to writing
@NaraMoore@sakurajima.moe avatar

#WordWeavers #Writing 26 May: what childhood similarities do your MC and antagonist share?

They were Japanese.
They were all lesbians or queer and knew it.
Most had shitty childhoods

Kaori and Miyako-kun went to the same high school. They were both smart troubled teens. Dated.

By the time the antags are antags most similarity is gone. They are Japanese. On one side we have human protags the full range of human emotions and weakness and on the other supernatural beings shorn of all but one driving emotion hate and a twisted love that keeps them from passing over.

They don't even follow the same rules of physics.
