So would you rather drink a shot of tequila or a glass of red wine?

Owen_G_Richards,
@Owen_G_Richards@writing.exchange avatar

@SergKoren

Neither.

Owen_G_Richards,

@SergKoren

It was for me!

You too.

Some days I want a utility/app to convert PDFs to true epubs.

Owen_G_Richards, (edited )
@Owen_G_Richards@writing.exchange avatar

@SergKoren

Does caLibre do it?

NO Just tried it with a .docx printed to .pdf and then converted to .epub and after the first page it loses the plot!

No idea if it works with original .pdf documents (as opposed to the microsoft equivalent)...

Owen_G_Richards,
@Owen_G_Richards@writing.exchange avatar

@SergKoren

Ah... Ok then! Don't know of any other app at the moment... sorry!

SergKoren, to VisionPro
@SergKoren@writing.exchange avatar

I’m thinking a VisionOS app that displays a 3D bookcase with 3D readable books would be enough reason for me to buy a VisionPro, if the bookcase fit in with my decor.

@SergKoren

When (if) I get my website up and running - I'll have a complete library of 3d books to open and read (mine, of course) - HTML/CSS/Javascript/PhP...

Thank you all for putting up with me here. No one puts up with me in real life ;) You, all, have a weird sense of humor or enjoy the ramblings of a free-writereist.

@SergKoren

If anyone cares to write down a solid definition of what is "normal" then I'll start to wonder what is, or isn't defined as such.

Until then just be whatever you want to be, and try not to blow too many people's minds at once...🤣

17: Do you think about your WIP every waking moment?

No.

Not anymore, and I miss those times somewhat. I also wrote every moment I could grab.

Back then, a huge motivation was through weekly emails with a friend who kept asking me questions about my WiP.

I no longer have that. The different prompts here do help, however.

Owen_G_Richards,
@Owen_G_Richards@writing.exchange avatar

@Firlefanz

Perhaps it might be useful if you get (as I have got) a couple of alpha readers - chapter-by-chapter reading and feedback which motivates me to keep going.

Just thinking aloud (It works for me is all)

Owen_G_Richards,
@Owen_G_Richards@writing.exchange avatar

@Firlefanz

I recently recruited a third alpha reader who is more selective with her reading, and even she's enjoying my latest WIP.

Which boosts my energy, sharpens my focus, etc.

Everyone thinks they are right. It takes bravery to admit or even think that you’re wrong.

Owen_G_Richards,
@Owen_G_Richards@writing.exchange avatar

@SergKoren

Been there, seen it, done it, wrote the book and the screenplay, directed and starred in the film, wear the T-shirt, bear the scars, therefore... admitting being wrong ain't that hard no more!

But it ain't courage - it's honesty and damn the consequences!

CNN: Elon Musk secretly ordered engineers to turn off his company’s satellite communications network near the Crimean coast last year to disrupt a Ukrainian sneak attack on the Russian naval fleet, according to an excerpt from a new biography. https://www.cnn.com/2023/09/07/politics/elon-musk-biography-walter-isaacson-ukraine-starlink/index.html

Can anyone seriously believe that any of the "mega-rich" care for anything except getting more money and playing God with other people's lives?

Bought by China, Russia, Saudi Arabia and who knows how many other countries are subsidising this danger to public safety/sanity.

Finally created a nice working infinity scroll composable in Vue and added it to : https://github.com/mstdn/Twix
https://twix.social

Introduced a few new bugs though that I'm not quite certain on how to fix :blobcatgiggle: :vue: :laravel:

Gotta figure out how to 'update the timeline' on new posts with emits maybe or parial reloads.. i don't know

Argh. And now Grey Kitty went out this morning and hasn't been seen since. Hopefully he's okay, and he'll show up in an hour or two... :/

They are as sensitive about loss as any creature that forms a relationship. Maybe they need a little space, maybe they're just mooching about... be patient and you may find they're back sooner than expected.

Good to hear. Thanks for letting me know as well.
