Visual Studio 2022 just said "Have you considered using DevDrive and ReFS?".

Yo. You just loaded a project from a DevDrive. Be smarter.

Be smarter? We live in a world where as soon as I buy something online, I start getting ads for the thing I just bought! Just bought one thanks - try again! 😂

Hi Jonathan,

Yeah I already did at the time I posted. 🙂 If you click on my MAUI community post about it, the link to the VS issue is in there (plus we're having some discussion about possible workarounds, which I'm gonna try some today - feel free to join the conversation 🙂 ). Was just giving you a heads-up about it (plus also giving the community another plug). 🙂

I saw a post a while ago which went along the lines of "if one person says it's raining, and another says it's not, it's not a journalist's job to report both sides - it's their job to look out the window and see if it's raining".

A lot of hand wringing in this article but it boils down to “This is not politics. It is the Constitution.” Simple as that. Do insurrection. No ballot box for you. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/12/21/trump-disqualified-14th-amendment-democracy/

I saw a poll that said 35% of Americans were against this ruling. So in other words 35% of Americans are against enforcing the constitution. Ok, so let's circle back to talking about those guns then...

If you are doing mobile development like #dotnetMAUI, #Xamarin, or #KotlinMultiPlatform. I highly recommend you install XCodes. Save yourself the headaches of managing XCode.

Hey Khalid. Great to see you using hashtags, but the correct one is - Maui hashtag is mostly about the Hawaiian island

Also using will not only be seen by those following that hashtag, but also get you boosted by the dotnet @bot

@bitbonk did you make a decision about including MAUI content for the dotnet bot, or perhaps create a new bot for boosting MAUI content?

And while I'm at it, gratuitous mention of https://programming.dev/c/dotnetmaui Lemmy MAUI community 🙂

SmartmanApps,
@SmartmanApps@dotnet.social avatar

@khalidabuhakmeh @bitbonk
Actually, now I've got further up in my timeline I see this post actually DID get boosted! Does that mean you already added the dotNetMAUI hashtag to it? Cos if not I'm not sure which content here actually caused the boost?

You can create threads on Mastodon using the traditional method:

  1. Post first part of thread
  2. Reply to first part with second part
  3. Reply to second part with third etc

Some third-party apps and services also have thread creation tools.

It's a good idea to number threads so that people who notice one part will explore the rest.

Also, set first post to "public" visibility but replies to "unlisted", to avoid filling public timelines.

Lots more info on threads at https://fedi.tips/how-do-i-post-a-thread-on-mastodon/

SmartmanApps,
@SmartmanApps@dotnet.social avatar

@feditips
So, if you set the subsequent posts to unlisted, and someone from the public clicks on the first post, they will see the whole thread?

Also, I type it up in Mastodon until I near the limit, then copy to Notepad, then ditto for 2nd post, etc., then when I'm at the end I can add the right numbering (e.g. 1/9), and copy them from Notepad back to Mastodon and post them. This also helps with getting the right char count for each, cos of things like URLs only counting for 23 chars, etc.

SmartmanApps,
@SmartmanApps@dotnet.social avatar

@Joe_Hill @feditips
Clarification, in fact clicking on ANY post in the thread opens up the whole thread.

SmartmanApps,
@SmartmanApps@dotnet.social avatar

@feditips @Joe_Hill
Ok, but does clicking on a public post open up all the unlisted posts too? That's what I'm not clear about. I'm not sure exactly how unlisted works.

Hi. Can I have a word?

When you use a could you capitalise each word please? That way, people using screen readers will hear each individual word, which means they'll get more useful context as a result.

When you don't capitalise hashtags the words string together and make no sense.

For example would read as "This Is How" while would sound something like "thissy show". A small change for you but a game changer for many people.

Be nice; get good karma. Thanks.

SmartmanApps,
@SmartmanApps@dotnet.social avatar

@amoroso @BigGayShaun
I wrote about this topic previously. Yes, camelCase (and PascalCase) are both fine, but snake_case (underscores) is not. It generally also deals ok with acronyms written in all-caps (like SCUBA). https://dotnet.social/@SmartmanApps/111050458369565821
