Just...wow. If corporations were people, this would be considered blackmail.

A conservative group threatened to "Bud Light" Best Buy, so the company offered to block employee donations to LGBTQ charities.

One of the groups Best Buy stopped donations to, to please conservatives, is The Trevor Project, which provides suicide prevention efforts to LGBTQ youth.

But here's the real hidden lede: the conservative group is okay with Best Buy working with HRC.

Let's see if this affects Best Buy's CEI rating with HRC, shall we? They've received a 100% score for at least 16 years running.

#PennedPossibilities #Writing 268 — Would you ever include a scene in your writing that violated the rules of your universe if the reader would never find out?

In this WiP there's only one rule: You can't move though your universe/reality timeline and if you "do it" you end up in another universe/reality timeline. You could return if you're unlucky enough, and your reward would be instant death.

But I certainly could write a scene like that, since there's a universal loophole in that rule…=)

An extremely religious person. Those that go to the church every day, that are always praying, etc. As an SC, NPC or Dear Villain, sure. I've done that. But not as an MC. My religion forbids that kind of characters. With (some of) my family and neighbors I have more than enough of such horrors…=)

Besides the Holy Oxford Comma, I live by all the rules when I'm narrating. Except when I don't. And since I write mostly in Spanish, where there are like a bazillon rules, you can imagine my suffering…=)

Now, with exception of the Holy Oxford Comma, when the characters talk, all the bazillon rules can and do go to hell. And technically, I'm not the one breaking those rules. The characters do…>=)

#WordWeavers 21: How do your characters stay clean? Does plumbing exist?

It's modern day, so there's the all the usual stuff you'll find in any house. Milos likes to be clean, so he was relieved to find a shower in his bedsit; it didn't look like it'd have one. His new house has a whole bath.

Alex can't bathe or take showers due to trauma from one of his experiments as a child, so he washes very carefully with a sink and a flannel. He also likes to be clean, so it's a bit of a pain.

They may work better as a condiment than as a staple.

I get that taking gender out of speech is a huge ask, especially when we speak in languages that are way more gendered than English. But could we at least start with hobbies and toys and tastes? That feels like a doable thing, a good start.
