The justice we seek isn't merely what we take but what we make. Many things may go wrong at the NYC hush money trial: A not guilty verdict, a hung jury, jury nullification, or a fast-tracked Trump appeal to the right-wing SCOTUS overturning a guilty verdict. We should depend not on the courts but on ourselves to rid America of the Trump-Republican scourge. Participate, organize and vote.

@chemoelectric The Supreme Court can hear a state appeal: https://www.uscourts.gov/about-federal-courts/types-cases/appeals, as they did in Bush v. Gore concerning the Florida ballot count since it had federal implications. They decide if a case violates a principle of law. And the right-wing SCOTUS will decide anything they want to. The so-called "public lust" you refer are just folks trying to save their democratic way of life and making the best of their own lives.

It is impossible to say exactly how many Covid deaths Trump caused due to his negligence and misleading lies to the public but its been estimated in the hundreds of thousands. Further, we know that Trump incited multiple deaths and some 174 injuries on January 6th. In a perfect world he'd now be on trial as a serial killer. Personally I'm revolted that he's being allowed to run for president again, that the main stream media is treating him with such reverence. We live in an era of shame.

In recent years, our right-wing Supreme Court has demonstrated how corrupted its decisions are. If Trump is convicted and jailed I believe the SCOTUS will quickly hear his appeal and invent cause to overturn his sentence-- as they invented cause to gift the presidency to George W. Bush(v.Gore):

I see no reason why Trump shouldn't be jailed if convicted in his NYC criminal trial. I find talk of probation or house arrest to be offensive, simply because it isn't equal justice under the law. How it "looks" for America to imprison its former president should be less important than what it proves-- that no one is above our laws, especially those with a higher responsibility to obey them.

It's worth repeating: Don't depend on a flawed justice system and corrupt conservative justices on the Supreme Court to resolve our problems with Trump and his cult. That responsibility belongs to each of us, en masse, at election time. We're making our own beds here; either we stand up for our democracy or we lose it-- and then live with the consequences.
