Been making socks for decades & only once or twice have I twisted the cast on. Still, I never trust I've done it right. I wait for the ribbing to jump up and scream that it's twisted. Every. Time. And I'm the type of knitter who never met a pattern she wouldn't change, who always thinks there's a better way, who suddenly throws in a rogue yarn, who basically isn't afraid to make mistakes & undo. But give me a circular cast on & I lose my cool. @knitting

Same location, the knitting is now joined & on a circular needle, the double pointed needles lying next to it.

Yumquotient,

@LoraHughes @knitting One would think there would be an easier way to join in the round without twisting… but alas, I have not found it. I am never sure it’s right either until several rows in. Even then, sometimes I’m not sure!

Yumquotient,

@ai6yr Page not redirecting…?

Yumquotient,

@ai6yr Weird. It works outside mastodon, but not clicking on your link within…

Yumquotient,

@ai6yr Currently in a mid-’70’s house. Pushing for more attic insulation/ radiant barrier… 🤞🙏 Windows may require remodeling, but maybe one or 2 can be done and still make a difference. Father in law removed each wall as he replaced windows- all new insulation. My dream!

Yumquotient,

@ai6yr And, btw I think about all this stuff you talk about (annoyingly so 😏🤷) (any version of disaster preparedness), but appreciate you continuing to hammer it home. (Really!!) Periodically I go to your home page and reread too- is there ANYTHING else I can do NOW?! 🙏 (edit:) https://www.patreon.com/ai6yr

ai6yr, to hamradio

Field testing the ham radio tablet. Panasonic Toughpad + Arch Linux + rtlsdr + gqrx.

Yumquotient,

@ai6yr Got mine! But haven’t done anything with it yet- want to back it up first (windows 10). Clonezilla didn’t go so well on my w11 pc…

Yumquotient,

@ai6yr Because you warned us, I just bought a cheapie 4 port USB hub. I hope the keyboard issue will be solved by the hub…(?!) Funny, I thought it was rather heavy! 😂 Look forward to playing with it. Unfortunately, I’m guessing my brain will be shutting down soon (sore throat, slight fever- will test later…)

Yumquotient,

@ai6yr Thanks. I just tested positive. So unnecessary… brought home to me. STAY MASKED!

Yumquotient, to repair

@ai6yr Since you are the only person I know that repairs things: I have old Energizer Weather Ready flashlights that are normally plugged in, switched to the position that keeps the light completely off, but will turn on when the power goes out. On several of them the light is no longer completely off anymore in that position. I have replaced the batteries. Any guess what needs to be fixed?

Yumquotient,

@ai6yr Doesn’t really want to open either 🤦🤷

Yumquotient,

@ai6yr I only see the one holding the battery compartment. I’m afraid it’s all hot glued… ☹️

Yumquotient,

@ai6yr Got it open!

Yumquotient,

@ai6yr There’s a fuse on the back, but it looks intact. I don’t know enough to know what might have gone bad.

Yumquotient,

@ai6yr Fantastic! Not this big yellow capacitor?

Yumquotient,

@ai6yr I have a total of 6 of these flashlights- 4 are “bad” (but are the older ones)

Yumquotient,

@ai6yr Yes, they are both the same.

Yumquotient,

@ai6yr I see they have the 47uF 16V 105C, but not the big yellow one (just to hit their $5 minimum order!) Can’t tell what shipping is…

Yumquotient,

@ai6yr @mjf_pro Where is the photoelectric sensor? What does it look like?

Yumquotient,

@Unlogic @ai6yr @mjf_pro I think that’s one of the interior battery terminals. There is a red light on the outside, but I think it’s to tell you it’s charging…?

Yumquotient,
Yumquotient,

@Unlogic @ai6yr Yes, I’m curious and hopeful about the new caps. I’ve been threatening to throw out the ones that can’t be turned off- too much light in the house at night! Just too cheap and stubborn to have actually put them in a landfill.

Yumquotient,

@Unlogic @ai6yr I haven’t been able to get to the mailbox-I assume @ai6yr sent it. (I generally don’t drive, and my partner has covid now, so I am just hiding…!)

Yumquotient,

@ai6yr Thanks. Are we the only two who mask anymore?! 🤦 (trying my best not to catch it! Ever!)

Yumquotient,

@ai6yr @Unlogic The caps have been picked up at the mailbox and are now in my hands! Thank you so much! As soon as I can manage a soldering iron… Will keep ya’ll posted.

Best out-of-the-box Linux distro for Panasonic FZ-G1 is definitely Arch Linux (after installing Debian and Ubuntu); the only issue now I have to figure out (unsure if it's hardware or software) is the built-in speaker.

Yumquotient,

@ai6yr Finally test booted Andy’s Ham Radio Linux distro by . Have only played with system stuff- haven’t even gotten into radio apps! looks great so far! (Was recommended to check out Kubuntu 22.04.3 LTS by a local Elmer)
