I design software for schools, doing research, systems design, illustration, ui and graphic design.

I believe things can and should be better. The economy, internet, politics, are made by humans and in our power to change, they aren’t laws of nature.

I am in a new chiro/massage waiting room and there is that background warm-minty smell of the muscle rub.

It is hitting me right in the brainstem, calming me, telling me I am among my people, all is well.

Birbies dust bathing on the path. I keep meaning to sweep all that up, but now, maybe I’ll leave it. A video might have been better because in some shots you’d think “dead bird” but they were very much alive. Camera controls though, by the time I’d figured it out they’d have gone.

Last boost not entirely as approval, but I’m sure they’ll help some people. It’s not even a mastodon thing, I once thought it would be handy to have ‘standard disclaimers’ on Twitter posts years ago “yes, I know about this obvious thing” etc. but obvs didn’t do that.

Just that, uhhh. Text in images? Alt text? Big aggressive shouty text? It’s all a bit… superior. It fails the vibe* check, you know?

@brad I’m often more curious when someone puts an unexpected content warning on stuff, but it’s annoying when they can’t be arsed to write it out and just acronym it. I thought that was partly why people put ‘lewd’ instead of ‘nsfw’. I can’t stand acronyms.

We use Paddle to sell @getkirby and while they are great in general, they've replaced humans with an AI bot for support requests.

This is what our clients must go through if they contact Paddle instead of us. (real redacted protocol) We can only apologize. It's embarrassing to get those protocols. It also causes additional work for us to read through this.

We told Paddle about it without success so far. Please, don't do this. Don't throw a chat bot at customers if this is the result.

When I'm in a funk, I like to bake. So I made my regular butter crescent rolls. I've got this recipe and process down... It's barely a half hour of work from start to finish (including cleanup, not including proofing).

This time I crammed them all onto two quarter sheet pans and popped them in my countertop oven, so they didn't bake as evenly as I'd have liked.

But! I did use one of my new seed heating mats under the bowl while proofing the dough, and that worked a treat!

Made another attempt at the carob bar experiment. This time I used cacao butter as the base and it worked so much better. It can’t be tempered like real chocolate but it’s got quite a good snap to it. I think next time I’ll put orange oil in it.

@James I’m not sure, it would be worth a go! The carob powder is not as fine as chocolate though and I think that might have been the issue, it might need conching. 🤔

Made a carob bar. It tastes nice, but the recipe said ‘sugar or maple syrup’, and I now know caster sugar isn’t right. It doesn’t have anything to dissolve into so stays gritty. Will try again tomorrow.

I used to hate carob. It was always the ‘healthy alternative’ to chocolate rather than being a thing in itself and that ruined it.

@number137 It’s worth trying. You used to be able to get bars of it that had no cacao. It has a fruitier taste than chocolate, like chocolate and dried fruit together.

The bar I made uses coconut oil as a fat,it has enough of that!
