COVID's Hidden Legacy: Thyroid Disorders Threaten UK Population.

"According to the British Thyroid Foundation, at least 1 in 20 Britons are now grappling with thyroid disorders or thyroiditis. This statistic represents millions of individuals potentially facing significant health challenges due to thyroid dysfunction."

agathachristieandcoffee,

@KanaMauna @DenisCOVIDinfoguy @auscovid19 non medical person here but from what I can tell that list would be super short.

Probe links COVID spread to schoolbus riders from sick driver.

"The proportion of Children infected with COVID-19 while riding a bus to a school in Germany was about 4 times higher than in peers who didn't ride the bus, illustrating efficient transmission during multiple short rides on public transport, finds a study"

agathachristieandcoffee,

@Monolecte 2-3000 ppm?! Merde! 🤯

Does anyone else grieve not being able to fit in while out in public anymore? I’m glad my mask keeps me safe but I go through periods of wishing to blend in.

agathachristieandcoffee, to random

I know it’s a privilege but we found a group of masking families and we just came from an outdoor birthday party where we all masked and the kids had a blast. I can’t stop smiling. This is what it could be. Games, fun, normal kid stuff. Just in a mask. I hope people saw us at the park today: an island of an alternate reality that could be where people cared.

That exquisitely distracting feeling of a nose itch inside your elasto that you can do nothing about but ride it out. Know what I mean?

trendless, (edited ) to random

Before having kids, I was rarely sick
-- even when it was the height of "flu" "season"; even when regularly hanging out with parent-friends who constantly were; even when my wife was a full-time teacher and regularly brought stuff home.

After having kids, I was sick constantly.

And that was all before the pandemic. I can't. even. imagine. how much worse it is out there, now. And the 'interest' continues to compound.

It's been more than four years since anyone in my now five-member household has been sick -- symptomatically, at least.

I don't miss it one bit.

Would that more parents (et al) were able to experience the Pathogen-Free Lifestyle®. In this era of personal experience above all else, is it the one thing that can break through the LiveWithIt™ propaganda and allow us to begin reining in the suffering and harm?

agathachristieandcoffee,

@trendless 💯 Pathogen Free Parenting is socially difficult but other than that I can’t complain. I don’t feel like death warmed up, we can have thoughtful conversations, I don’t resent them for bringing home yet another thing, it’s just so much nicer. I don’t miss cuddling the sick snot monster.

There are a lot of minimizers. There are also a lot of COVID voices of doom.
The latter may be correct more often, but by inflating fears, we turn people off when we need to engage them in a sane dialog. Constant "sky is falling/we're all going to die" messaging isn't a way to urge more informed, cautious behavior.
Some think I'm a voice of doom, but I try to strike a balance in my COVID posts.
Not every variant is a new plague, and not every unexplained death is due to COVID.

agathachristieandcoffee,

@augieray @KanaMauna there’s always the Paris Olympics 😬

This is anecdotal but I don’t recall the news instructing me on how to manage dementia symptoms for young people in the before times. It’s scary.

agathachristieandcoffee, to random

Just venting: I know looking pretty in an elasto isn’t important but I’m feeling emotional about not having one I feel good in. Found one where you could hear me and I just feel ugly. It’s not important but I’ve got the feels.

agathachristieandcoffee,

@thepoliticalcat wise words! Thank you! ☕️

@luckytran an update on Atlanta’s proposed mask ban: The mask ban was scrapped because Atlanta was told by the State Gov that it was illegal 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Details: https://x.com/atlanta_press/status/1734291761621512577?s=46&t=Qe8AABO7ZEM0vU_H7KfbwQ

I seem to remember someone did a Corsi build that doubled as a light fixture but I can’t find it. Does anyone remember that it was it my imagination?

agathachristieandcoffee, to sysadmin

My husband is a systems administrator who just got told he has no choice but back to office full time. Any ideas on where to look for a remote position?

makes fewer passes at people who wear glasses.

STUDY: "People who wear eyeglasses have a moderate (15%) reduction in risk of COVID-19 infection highlighting eye protection may make a valuable contribution to the reduction of transmission in community and healthcare settings." Sorry, contact wearers, there was no reduction for you.

agathachristieandcoffee,

@EllieK @augieray I like your mask - where did you find them?

agathachristieandcoffee, to random

I’m using the Mastodon app but I can’t seem to see any new posts in my feed since yesterday. Any suggestions?

You wouldn't dine in a space tainted with a cloud of asbestos dust, however small the cloud, because there is no such thing as a safe dose of asbestos. There is no safe number of COVID infections. There is no such thing as safe public indoor dining.

agathachristieandcoffee,

@PacificNic I never did understand why people were desperate to eat at a restaurant. Maybe it’s my introversion but curbside and my pjs offers me more than dining in ever did.

agathachristieandcoffee, to random

Does anyone else have days where they are tired of the friction with everyone else due to masks?

PacificNic, to random

COVID and influenza vaccines for kids are still being done in mass vaccination centers?!? How the fuck am I supposed to keep a respirator on my neurodivergent kid after getting poked by a needle twice, surrounded by hundreds of little vectors everywhere?!? Vaccination shouldn't be an infection hazard for the thing you are vaccinating for.

agathachristieandcoffee,

@PacificNic THIS. Vaccines need to be given separately outside not inside where sick people go for drugs etc. it’s just 💩

agathachristieandcoffee, to random

We just met another family with kids who mask and they have a group that plans play dates with other masked kids outside and I feel all the happy feels. 🥹 I’m pinching myself. It can happen!

FINALLY GOT A PEDIATRIC VACCINE 🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊

agathachristieandcoffee,

For anyone in the US looking for a provider to vax kids under three- Kroger’s “Little Clinics” will.

agathachristieandcoffee, to random

Public Service Announcement for those looking for the pediatric vaccine- check with whoever you have your vax appointment with about their weight requirement if it’s not your pediatrician. We just got rejected from our appointment at Walmart because my child was 29.4 lbs and not 30. 😭

agathachristieandcoffee, to random

Speaking of jobs - if you know someone who is a sys admin looking for a remote job where would you recommend they look? Asking for a friend.

Private
agathachristieandcoffee,

@DenisCOVIDinfoguy @auscovid19 I get 💩 for homeschooling but since we mask etc the only time we miss is for vacations.
