Bitte einmal tief durchatmen:

is surging in the ..

I know something that is highly effective against it! (Plus vaccines and antibiotic treatment)

P.S. Also effective for measles and diphtheria (both surging too)

FYI, you can still get infected with if you have had the vaccine. It does not prevent infection itself. What it prevents is the disease form of measles, which -- with vaccination -- the immune system keeps in check

What we don't know is how and our friend -- a virus that impacts the immune system's ability to keep infections in check -- will end up impacting this

It would be wise, then, to prevent measles infection entirely by filtering it out of the air

@currentbias Funny how keep intruding on all conversations about aka It's almost as though they keep aerosolised infections at bay...including Measles, and Whooping Cough (Pertussis), which are doing the rounds in S. E. Qld. Put HEPA filtration units in hospitals, schools, and shopping centres.

> Alberta Medical Association sounding alarm, calling for more support as hospitals are overwhelmed
https://calgary.citynews.ca/2023/12/11/alberta-medical-association-support-hospitals-overwhelmed/

The alleged problem:
“...there is a confluence of factors that are driving physicians out of hospitals, and this is negatively affecting Albertans’ access to timely, acute care.”

The proposed solution:
“Match alternative relationship plan rates to current fee-for-service billing in Alberta; Incent after-hours care; Provide competitive rates for physician availability; Address and remove further compensation reductions.”

• How long have we been sounding the alarm that this was the inevitable outcome of LetErRip™?

• Is there so much denial even among physicians/hospitalists in Alberta that they may be swayed by the promise of money rather than a safe workplace?

I think we CAN win this. I think we CAN get people masking again, voluntarily. I don't think it will be easy, and I think we need to spend a lot of time and effort on hashing out a strategy, but I don't think it's impossible.

It's fundamentally rational to wear a mask to prevent the spread of disease. We have facts on our side.

SO many people only stopped masking in order to fit in, but they'd wear them again if we can find a way to give them social license and confidence.

You know what people act like is a super big deal, but isn't at all?

Wearing an N95 in shared indoor spaces.

You know what people act like is no big deal, but is a huge one?

Getting sick with a brain-destroying vascular virus that persists and actively replicates in your organs, brain, and possibly bone marrow after symptoms are gone.

For some reason, the decision to wear a respirator is hard for some people, but I can't figure out why.
