@xahteiwi no, but I know humans behind the company logos that are working hard and with good intent to try to do the right thing.

If you contribute or publish BSD or MIT licensed code, someone else can use it in GPL, AGPL, BUSL, SSPL, or fully closed source proprietary software as long as they include the attribution license with it.

If you don't want people to use your code in proprietary software, then don't publish it with a permissive license nor sign a CLA that reassigns the copyright.

Again, I'm not telling anyone not to use permissive licenses, but to understand it. What redis and redict did are both legal.

ahrkrak,
@ahrkrak@hachyderm.io avatar

@anderseknert @danderson @vwbusguy CLA allows the “owning” company to relicense under a different license in future. Not that anyone would ever do that, right?

Hi, it's your friendly neighbourhood writer reminding you of a silly quirk in the English language: somewhat confusingly, you cannot use the possessive apostrophe with the word "who".

It's always "whose dog is this", not "who's dog is this".

The sequence "who's" always indicates contraction (replacing "who is", or "who has"); "whose" is for possession.

ahrkrak,
@ahrkrak@hachyderm.io avatar

@xahteiwi Thank you! Of course, it’s the native speakers who get this wrong most frequently.

Rest in Power Shafiqah Hudson.
https://www.netrootsnation.org/profile/shafiqah-hudson/

Shafiqah, known online as SassyCrass, was a brilliant teacher, writer, and Black feminist that we owe so much to.

We talk a lot about how online disinfo campaigns from Gamergate to the Alt-right to Moscow's Internet Research Agency, target the Black community. But the Black community doesn't fall for it. "Famous security researchers" often pretend that they first found these disinfo networks, but they didn't.

Kid wanted a record player for Christmas. Got them that, and a record: Dark Side of the Moon. He’s listening to it in wonder now. What one record would you have chosen for optimum experience?

ahrkrak,
@ahrkrak@hachyderm.io avatar

@mxk I should have been more specific: this isn’t just “testing out new hardware”, this is “experiencing music in a way you don’t/can’t with Spotify”… Brothers in Arms is fine (it’s one of the handful I owned as a teenager, and the BiA tour was the first major concert I went to) but the LP is a collection of singles more than a unified artistic work that must be played in sequence.

ahrkrak,
@ahrkrak@hachyderm.io avatar

@janl already told them how when I was a kid we only would have a handful of albums and that’s what we’d listen to… and ABBA The Album was my first LP.

    I’m crying because of our collective loss but also smiling at the memory of how just a few months ago @nova taught me how to optimize my fogo de chao experience. And how her eyes sparkled at the idea of defining an entirely new architecture for the cloud. And how she railed against the system. And how despite so much adversity she made a life of love and happiness for herself. She lived more in her too few years than most people live in a lifetime. I hope she feels all the ❤️ from so many of us.

    ahrkrak,
    @ahrkrak@hachyderm.io avatar

    @hazelweakly @nova haha I’d never been there before at all. So I’m not sure it’s so much optimization as just how it works… “don’t take the special offer with the wagyu steak, you’ll have plenty of good meats”, go for the churrasco experience and then advice about which of the ones they brought by to take.

    @acdha yes our pilot was also good. Can’t complain there. Now, 90 minutes to get a rental car at midnight (30 mins for the shuttle, 60 mins wait at the Avis “preferred service” counter)… that I can complain about.
