UK government has a consultation open on the Work Capability Assessment process until the 30th of October. I haven't read it yet but the summarised point on "flexibility" regarding "working from home" puts the fear in me tbqh (they are absolutely going to be looking at more ways to disqualify disabled people from claiming any sort of benefits).

thinking about revitalising the pringles brand. imo they don't really exploit their U.S.P., and that results in a weak brand. for one thing : it is the only food that comes in a tube. and any hand that enters becomes irrevocably trapped. so maybe somehting like "pringles. any hand can be placed into the tube to retrieve a crisp. however, only the penitent hand may be withdrawn." this would add a moralistic dimension to the brand, thence which would add mystique to the product imo.

Johnson's first reaction to hearing about long covid was to dismiss it as "Gulf war syndrome stuff". there is one guy in the UK who is known for Gulf war syndrome stuff (he was knighted for it) - professor sir simon wessely. actually wessely specialises in dismissing GWS and p much everything else as "psychosomatic", and casting patients as malingerers and hypochondriacs. this makes him popular with tories and private insurers.
