They shouldn’t give exceptions for “good faith effort to hire.” If you can’t hire someone, clearly you aren’t matching what the market demands and need to improve working conditions and pay.
Just like “emergency certifications” in teaching, when the solution to “we don’t have enough qualified people” becomes letting any one with a pulse in, we end up with a race to the bottoms in employee qualifications, pay and working conditions.
You cannot expect someone go through years of school, with additional specialized training, sometimes even masters or doctoral level degrees, to work for substandard wages. In the medical field especially - the mobile and qualified can make bank as travel nurses, why would they bother with you?

Oklahoma state law says it’s a misdemeanor and schools can lose up to 10% of their funding for letting anyone (teacher or student) use a bathroom that doesn’t match their birth certificate. (There’s been a standing executive order since 2015 that birth certificates cannot be changed). I have the face and body of a reddit neckbeard, but I was violating the law by not pissing in the same room as my female colleagues and students.

I had a couple seizures several years ago. Full on grand mal with an ER trip and all that fun.
The response from doctors has consistently been “yeah, sometimes people just have seizures.” They did CT scans, didn’t see anything abnormal and aren’t really interested in investigating more. Solution was that I’m just going to take anticonvulsants for the rest of my life.
I really wish my friends and family would understand this. This is something that I have to worry about, all of the time. It causes me constant and immense stress.

The power structure of those places facilitate horrific abuse. No one in that hospital was interested in helping him.
The psychiatrist I saw for maybe 15 minutes at the beginning of the day. All they did was prescribe me meds. There wasn’t any really meaningful therapy, at least as I understood it? It was more of a holding pen.
I think in the US, the horrifying truth is that mental health resources are mostly illusory. 988 exists so that we can pass out 988 stickers and pens - we can be the good people providing help. Therapists exist, but the waiting lists for good ones can be months and there are thousands of disturbed LPCs who went in to counseling for the wrong reason.
CBT is a shitty modality for things like “I’m miserable because I can’t afford to eat” or “I’m stressed because I got fired from my job when they found out I was trans” or even something as dumb “my body tenses up and I can’t focus my eyes when hear the name Al Bundy.” It’s symptoms focused and can be harmful for certain situations. But it also is often the only modality that one can easily access.
The entire structure of the mental health system in America is horrifically broken, but fixing it would require a complete overhaul of the system. So instead it’s bandaids - employee assistance programs and chat hotlines.
So the cops in previous statements were being purposefully misleading to help push the narrative that Nex died by suicide. That was obvious, but will this be enough to combat the bad faith misinformation being spread all over the fucking place?

The court is trying. He’s just playing a lot of games. Lots of the money is held by his parents or hidden in different shell companies. Court orders don’t automatically happen or always get enforced. Going through a divorce right now - lawyer told me that even if I do get an order that some of the shared debts are paid, he can just not. I’d have to go back to court and still get dinged on my credit.

If you read the article, they are no longer in the business of selling theatre projection equipment.
This was probably an expired certificate. Alamo Drafthouse, like many movie theatres, probably cuts costs by not having a projectionist and lets the projectors essentially run on auto pilot, and then faced the consequences when no one noticed that their certificates had expired.
