Noting for the record that this movie, Matango, was NOT the all time champion of my personal WTF Did I Just Watch list. That honor is still held by Death Bed: The Bed That Eats.

But this one came really close. ;D

SDET still on the job market, looking for positions that will allow me to work by remote and write test automation. I'm comfortable testing web page front end UI, mobile front end UI, and backend APIs. I'm comfortable working in Windows, macOS, AND Linux. My current tool skillset includes Python, Java, Swift, Xcode, IntelliJ, Pycharm, Postman, Git, Cocoapods, and Docker. Anything I don't immediately know or haven't worked with recently, I can pick up.

My track record with sticking with a contract is strong, and I'm regularly told by devs that I'm one of the best SDETs they've ever worked with.

If you have a position I might be a fit for, talk to me! Resume available upon request.

In which Finds-The-Way learns how to find an Elder Scroll from a mad mage; slays a wave of frenzied mudcrabs in Dawnstar; is kidnapped by the Dark Brotherhood, and then invited to join them; recovers a lost clan sword from Silverdrift Lair; slays a treacherous Argonian in Ironbind Barrow; and takes out the Summerset Shadows to win access for the Thieves Guild in Windhelm.

This is more of my German playthrough of Skyrim, from mid-December. (I'm behind on my posts again!)

Shoutout to all my fellow job seekers in tech who are sick and tired of finding an interesting job to apply to, only to discover that they're yet another company running their own instance of myworkdayjobs.com, and if you want to apply to them you have to make YET ANOTHER ACCOUNT.

JFC, I have TEN OF THESE ACCOUNTS NOW.

Because apparently having one global myworkdayjobs.com site is too hard, or something? ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

This is more of my German playthrough, and since it's a single session, focuses on language notes for running the end of The Cause.

Welp, it's 2024.

I'm definitely down with the sentiment I've seen going around, re: fuck New Year's Resolutions.

2024 needs to damn well resolve to stop being the Eternal 2020 Suckpit. Once it proves it'll suck less than 2023, then maybe we can talk New Year's Resolutions.

I've got my EYE ON YOU, 2024.

I have nothing to say about this movie yet except that I am grooving on this. <3 I love Mr. Teatime, and I ALSO love Susan.

Noting for the record that like @moira I am sadly NOT very versed in the work of Sir Terry. This is my first encounter with any version of this story at all.

Just had to explain to another recruiter that any lead that requires me to be in an office three days a week will not be a good fit for me, on the grounds that I have asthma, my lungs are weaker than normal (and are therefore more vulnerable to COVID), and that COVID is in fact surging again. So no, I am not going to spend the majority of my week in an office surrounded by potential infection vectors.

I also had to explain to this person that I am otherwise fine and capable of working, but that this is not a matter of my being temporarily ill. This is a condition I will be dealing with for the rest of my life.

So that's extra fun on top of being unemployed since July.

Anybody wanna hire an SDET?

Er, how are we supposed to riff Hogfather? It's actually a pretty good movie. I just don't have it in me to make fun of Terry Pratchett.

I'm genuinely puzzled. What's the point? My wife, who sometimes Monsterdons with me, is not interested this time for similar reasons,

Thoughts, anyone?

annathepiper,
@annathepiper@mastodon.murkworks.net avatar

@rwhe More than once I've found movies to be actually good, and therefore not really movies I want to riff on per se. But it's still enjoyable to comment with others in a group watch about the stuff I appreciate!

We're gonna watch Glass Onion instead because @moira and I haven't seen it yet. But I'll be watching tonight's Monsterdon riffing, I do wanna see y'all rip From Hell It Came apart. ;D

Woke up out of a dream in which a discussion was happening about what context Indiana Jones would have for Klingons. We were flailing trying to come up with a real world comparison. And I think it was Dream Me who asked, "Japanese samurai... and kangaroos?"

There was much disbelief in the conversation (as well as from @moira when I told her about this), and the last thing I remember just as the alarm went off was "But the kangaroo is a noble animal!"

A walkthrough post for what I did to install an unofficial patch to FISSES, one of the mods I'm using in my modded playthroughs, which allows certain mods to have access to the file system so that you can save out settings for things like RaceMenu, A Matter of Time, and other mods you want to save custom configs for.

Hopefully useful to any other #Skyrim players who are using FISSES in their load orders!

I can confirm that this unofficial patch did resolve the last error I was seeing my modded playthroughs throwing on startup, following the recent update to the game. So I hope this helps somebody else!

@rmd1023 @moira It was hands down the best SNW episode this season. :D They actually came up with a way to make crossing over between those two shows work!

annathepiper,
@annathepiper@mastodon.murkworks.net avatar

@wrog @rmd1023 @moira Season 2 didn't suck, even the musical episode. Dara didn't care for it but I liked it better. The technobabble reason for why everybody was bursting into song was admittedly flimsy. But HOLY CRAP Uhura can sing. <3

And it did also drop a significant side plot point. If you decide to watch the season but skip that episode anyway (and it IS mostly skippable) come back and I'll tell you what the important plot point is.

annathepiper,
@annathepiper@mastodon.murkworks.net avatar

@wrog @moira @rmd1023 The "wait a minute now" thing I always have with Pike's fate is, why exactly Federation medical technology wasn't capable of doing anything besides dooming him to being trapped in that chair for the rest of his life.

This is a setting where twice now we've seen Klingons surgically altered to look like humans,, we've seen Kirk himself surgically altered to look like a Romulan (and had that reverted as of the end of the episode), we've seen McCoy slip a 20th century woman a pill that made her grow an entire new kidney, and we've seen people pull off medical miracles by using somebody's last known pattern in the transporter buffer.

So WTF was keeping them from helping Pike? o.O

@annathepiper@mastodon.murkworks.net avatar

@moira @wrog @rmd1023 LOL yes. :D "Because PLOT is why!"

today's question: what non-Godzilla film would you add Godzilla to

annathepiper,
@annathepiper@mastodon.murkworks.net avatar

@moira @carithlee Yes, Master and Commander and Godzilla wherein Aubrey must outwit the French ship in seeing which of them can successfully recruit Godzilla to their side of the Napoleonic wars! And BOY ARE THEY SURPRISED when Godzilla sinks both of their ships.

The survivors, which naturally include Jack and Stephen, make it to a nearby island! Which of course has Mothra on it, and Jack and Stephen have to convince Mothra to take them home to England. Which they manage to pull off by performing a lyrical violin and cello duet. Because OF COURSE they saved their instruments.

Anybody besides me playing modded playthroughs, be advised this may break your ability to play those modded playthroughs until your mods catch up, if you haven't already taken steps to lock your Skyrim to a specific version!
