Can someone reality check me? I gallery that I have exhibited pieces in group exhibitions and sold two pieces through is asking artists to donate artwork valued at $100 (or more) for a fundraiser. Like, they take 40% of the artwork that gets sold. So, um, am I just being salty?

My 93 year old aunt started this quilt and isn't able to finish it. I said I would take it on. It's not a ton of work to finish the top. I did have to do a little unstitching to get started. I'm contemplating added the blue and white squares as a final border (which came along in the bag of supplies she sent). It's like it gives the quilt a couple exclamation marks!

My aunt sent me a kit and pattern with this adorable fabric, BUT I am incapable of following directions and the quilt just really doesn't do justice to the fabrics, so I'm tweaking the pattern. A lot. lol. #quilting #patchwork #sewing #design

Edited to add: original pattern is on the left. Also, not sure why the color is so much less saturated.

Beginning of my version of the quilt. The six panels are laid out as in the pattern, and there are two nine patches in the middle. Now I've added four more nine patches, with blue and white fabrics and a red middle square. There are polygonal shapes in the middle with the smaller hedgehog fabric and I'm auditioning some other fabrics from the kits in the spaces. I flipped one of the border pieces so the plaid strip is touching the pieced center.

Poking around today.Trying some different combinations. I think lunch is in order.

In this one, the blue, dark blue, and white squares are still top and bottom and central side spots. In the middle is the light orange and dark orange batik striped square. On the top right is the light orange batik with blue floral Japanese print in the middle. Now there is a corner square of alternating white and red lines in a chevron pattern. Bottom right has a grid of red and white at the top left corner of the block and then there is light orange, blue floral Japanese print, and more light orange batik. Lower left has blue floral Japanese print on the outside, two strips of light orange batik, and then dark orange batik in the middle. At the lower left is another square made of alternating red and white strips in a chevron pattern.
