Work today is kind of silly. Front office can't keep up with our work pace, so I'm sitting here on my phone doing nothing productive. If they let us help we'd be fine, but their egos are too big 🙄

I am very bad at . Installing, setting up my audio mixer, troubleshooting sound, and getting Guild Wars 2 up and running took about five hours. Still have a lot to learn but I'm extremely happy with the result so far.

Went with at the recommendation of a friend. It was fairly painless :D

I am definitely not the person to ask; still very new to all of this :P

My friend recommended Nobara because it comes with a lot of stuff that a PC gamer or content creator probably wants like Nvidia drivers and Steam. It does hold your hand during setup a fair bit, which I found extremely helpful.

Yep, GW2 runs very smooth. Not pictured is the Steam Deck I bought a while back to familiarize myself with Linux. I've played some more serious content on that and it runs great.

I'll have to keep Windows on dual boot to make my audio mixer work, but I'm well on my way to doing everything through Linux. 😎

That's how I started as well. Trying it in virtualbox gave me a good idea on what to expect.

You can save some time by flashing a USB with the ISO while you're tinkering in vbox.

Awesome, thank you! Gonna attempt to get marker packs and OpenRGB working before raid tonight.

One major difference in getting setup on Linux vs Windows is how well-documented everything is. Taking control of my MMO mouse with piper reminded me a bit of hacking my 3DS.

@dominoko Pretty good this time around. My WvW guild joined a larger alliance and the camraderie/teamwork between multiple like-minded guilds feels a lot better than the hodgepodge that tends to form on a server.

A lot of the gamers in my guild tonight were experiencing 900+ ping completely at random. Led to a lot of people getting pulled before the fight started. Hopefully anet can figure out what's going on there

Apparently Reddit has now banned a subreddit dedicated to the Fediverse Reddit-alternative Kbin:

If you're on a centralised platform like Reddit, this is what they can do. Centralised platforms have all-powerful leaders who can do whatever they want, and you have no alternatives if you disagree.

The point of the Fediverse being on lots of servers is that each server's power is limited. If you disagree with one server's actions, you can move.

If you work in the trades - rad! - what do you do and why?

Just musing… I think I’d do finish carpentry + drywall… I like the details :)

I'm a CNC machinist. Here's a thing I made a while back.

This job lets me work with my hands and do some light computer science at the same time. We also do vector drawing sometimes. Very satisfying work!

I am considering bringing my community over to via Linode. Not very tech savvy.

How much of a learning curve am I facing? Any additional snags I'll be facing that I wouldn't encounter while streaming to someone else's platform?
