So in the last few hours I've learned pretty much that I'm too dumb for docker.
Also learned that there are a ton of old ass tuts out there that don't work. And that led to learning how to reset docker containers, which is still something I apparently can't do.
@thelinuxcast Best advice I got when I was beating my head again Docker a number of years ago ... walk away. Come back to it fresh when your frustration levels go down. :)
I'm going to have to intersperse some other books with the Mistborn trilogy. I'm 5 hours in and only 200 pages into the 2500 page trilogy. I don't think I'll ever buy a trilogy all in one book again. It is just too long. Especially Sanderson who can't seem to write anything small.
I should have made this decision earlier today since I had a hold come in from Libby, but I already delayed it.
@thelinuxcast Yeah, on my first read through Steven Erikson's Malazan book of the fallen, I did it paperback to paperback. My reread was after I'd donated those paper backs. So I bought the collected edition from Amazon. it's 10 books totaling 11k pages. Of course the giant ebook was split into separate books but I do think knowing it's an 11k page story would give you an aneurysm.
the only US citizens Americans should be taking protesting cues from are PUERTORRIQUEÑOS.
why? Puerto Rico is bound, muzzled & knee-capped by the USA constitution YET our people took to the streets, IN THE ISLAND & WORLDWIDE, and changed the government in 12 days of non-stop protests.
PROTESTS WORK.
so much so, USA media wants you to forget those 12 days of protests when writing of the global unrests of 2019.
WE ARE MORE AND WE HAVE NO FEAR;
somos más y no tenemos miedo.
@blogdiva I have a question based on dates. Were these "Democrats" the same that left the Democratic party and joined the GOP, the folks that were labeled the Dixiecrats? This switch happened in the 1960s or are we ignoring the historical shake up of the two parties? I'm curious.
I'm working on a video to see what the Linux community (or at least people who follow me) actually use.
So, I created a little form, hosted on my Nextcloud (hopefully it's up to the task...)
It's only up for 2 days, so don't hesitate to share it around, it will help me "touch grass" and see if my preconceived notions are confirmed, or invalidated!
@thelinuxEXP You should probably take it down since it's expired. Then folks won't answer questions only for it not to be submitted. After all, we don't know when it started and folks are sharing it still. :(
IF only Hyprland wouldn't freeze on me, I think I'd be very happy to stay with it. As is, it continues to freeze when I wake the computer up from sleep. Bug report filed, but until it is fixed, I'm once again on the lookout for another WM.
So far tonight I've tried river (got it installed, but wouldn't load), bspwm (maybe, but I don't care for the way it does workspaces), DWM (my build is broken so I'll need to start over), and then went back to hyprland.
@thelinuxcast I miss Twitter pre-2016 when it seemed to overnight turn into all politics, all the time. It was bad between '16 and '21 ... now it's just unbearable.
So I asked for good Fantasy novels with a side of romance (because I like romance in my fantasy, so sue me), and someone told me that Stephen King is the best Romance writer.
This made me laugh out loud. Stephen King is not a romance writer. Do some of his books have romance? Sure. But just lol. Also man can't write an ending to save his life. Still read every book he's ever written though because he's still a good writer.
@thelinuxcast You ever read "Malazan: Book of the Fallen" by Steven Erikson? It's damn good and 11k pages in total ... it has "romance" ... but not sure if it fits what your asking for. Anyway, damn good series.
@thelinuxcast@JamesMowery FYI. Font handling on Floorp is broken. If you had a thought to use it. I switched back to mainline FF yesterday after floorping for a week.
For the love of FUCK please tell me an entire story in a single book. Stop with this ending everything unfinished and unraveled, and on a cliffhanger, with no resolution or satisfaction.
Edging is fun in the bedroom, not in book series.
Tell me a goddamn story. A whole story. Start, middle AND FUCKING ENDING.
Write a good story and I'll read your second book. You don't have to trick me.
@MsHearthWitch I once started a firestorm on Twitter (before it's enshitification) about how I will only buy a series when all parts are out and available. I've felt burned by a lot of series that take years and in some cases 3 damn decades to arrive.
@thelinuxcast@iantriggs I noticed that weird stuff like this simply went away when I compiled mesa from src. I also noticed my RX7800XT running 3c to 7c cooler after this.
Could it be that SuSE's package has had the same level of care that Manjaro's has had which is to say half-hearted at best?
I dunno. But since getting the AMD card and switching to 100% Wayland, I've been reasonably happy with most things and haven't had show stoppers.
