Just finished "A Desolation Called Peace." Great book but after reading this and it's predecessor back-to-back, I'm worn out.

Any recommendations on lighter and quicker reads?

Edit: thanks for all the recs so far. For reference, I have read all Murderbot as well as the two wild built novellas by Chambers. I loved both of them.

Just finished "A Psalm for the Wild-Built." I think I need more short pieces in my life? Would this be considered a short story? A novella? Some other literary word that I'm not using correctly?

After seeing it mentioned quite a bit around here, I started the series today, and the first installment is amazing. I almost finished it in one sitting this morning, but then real life got in the way, and I had to put it down.

I finally finished up my but having issues with how I want to photograph them for the blog.

Here are some examples of a really stylized version I did, that I think captures the aspect of the game but I'm not sure if a more standard set would be better so people could see the colors used better.

Thoughts? I'm putting a poll in the replies to this post if anyone is interested.

I keep getting wrecked by damage (aka running out of cards for those who don't know) in The Legacy of Yu. Even when buying Townspeople cards liberally, I can't keep up with the amount of Townspeople I lose when building canal pieces 3 and 4.

Thoughts on my first play of . Reminder I've only played it solo.

  1. The place/retrieve mechanism is implemented in a way I haven't seen in other games in my collection. Typically in worker placement you get your workers back once you run out. In Apiary when you retrieve workers, they "level up." I definitely handled this wrong and will need to retrieve more often in future

  2. Bumping workers as well as the actions where you add your value to already played workers is very cool

Used this cool tool at pubmeeple.com that can pull in your whole BGG collection and then starts asking you to compare game over game to try to work out the ranking of your collection. Here is what ended up being my top 9

In the new house, there is no carpet and all the ceilings are really high. Realized last night after loading my vocal recordings into Audacity, it sounds like I'm in a huge cave.

  1. Does have any decent fixes for this? I know I can silence the gaos where I'm not actually talking but what about while I'm speaking?

  2. For voice-over stuff I guess I could record in my clothes closet but anything I can do in room to cut down on hollow effect for other times?

Yesterday, we had to say goodbye to my sweet boy, Isaac. He was a great dog and an even better friend for the 16 years I had him.

We love you very much, buddy puppy, and will miss you but are grateful for the time we spent together.
