If Tesla doesn’t want to develop the supercharger network anymore, it should get nationalized, open-sourced, opened to everyone and most importantly expanded into every last crevice of the country for a boom in clean transportation.

bruce_korb,

@thomasfuchs

Tesla owners need to get SAE J1772 to Tesla-weirdo converters. Tesla did not really need to invent their own standard.

bruce_korb,

@thomasfuchs

Thanks. I guess that is better than I thought. I bought my 2016 Volt 8 years ago and I kept running into NACS chargers and there being no device for connecting those handles to my CCS/SAE J1772 socketed car. It is pretty irritating.

Hey, for the record, I’m not a piece of software. I’m an actual living person, trying to figure out the world just like you are. So if you’re going to send me a message out of the blue about how awful I am, you need to be specific about what you’re complaining about. Otherwise, I might misunderstand and improve the wrong one of my many flaws and deficiencies.

Good news fellow vaccine regulars! It appears the more Covid you get, the less likely you are to get long covid. :blobcatcheer: :moomin_yes:

Speaking of, I’m about due for #7 or 8 or whatever I’m up to…

bruce_korb,

@mivox

I've lost track, too. Whatever the max number of vaccinations are allowed, I'm there. Last one in September.

bruce_korb,

@mivox

With the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines priced at over $100 and @PeterHoetz' vaccine only available outside of the USA, I'll wait for the next authorization. Hopefully, it will be a semi-annual thing. It has been so far.

That explains the apparent greater distortion on the left side vs. the flat wall on the right. I like it though.

Buried somewhere, I have a two row pano of the Santa Cruz Wharf: a gazillion pixels. It's fun to zoom over and over and still have a sharp image. It's a late morning in early September, so there were many people. (Only one tiny fast walker appears twice.)

Heh. Getting a surprising, or I suppose unsurprising, number of people telling me how it's PERFECTLY SENSIBLE that they're preventing pedestrians from looking at the street in Las Vegas and that the SpaceX rocket that exploded was a BIG SUCCESS.

Has anyone tried the new Activity Pub plugin for Wordpress?

It’s out of beta now.

I have a Wordpress site (which I need as an author) and a Mastodon instance (which I need because I am a control freak).

If Activity Pub works as it should, I won’t need both — but we can’t get Activity Pub to work on a Wordpress site.

Has anyone tried this?

I will trade legal analysis for technical help. (Fediverse economics)

bruce_korb,

@Teri_Kanefield

Maybe. I’m in Australia and my CA CSLB complaint is languishing. Your SFO friend said he would review and send a letter, but can’t handle it beyond that. I’ll be back November first.

    Loose Cannon did some interesting stuff today. I don't think it is as problematic as the histrionics seem to imply, but IANAL either. Any top-of-your-head thoughts? (You are under a timeline for your book, so just label it a quick thought and we'll allow you to change your mind.)

    What if crimes come to light DURING his time in office, but his lickspittle AG blocks prosecution? I think we're in the "find out" phase.

    > the excuse that somehow he can't travel to D.C. to view the docs is absurd.

    On multiple levels:

    1. his reading comprehension is really poor and you can't take notes in a SCIFF.
    2. He has lawyers in DC who can read and remember, travel only required for the trial.

    Credit where it’s due: just had an excellent support experience with Atomos (which makes recording studio monitors for video). I emailed a fairly complicated problem, and a knowledgeable human replied with a correct diagnosis and workaround within an hour. Good work!

    Reminder: at (about) 2:20pm Eastern time, the US will be testing the Emergency Alert System (for broadcast radio and TV) and the Wireless Emergency Alert system (for cellular phones). The tests don't track recipients, but the audible alarm that will play on phones may cause problems for some people.

    If you have a "secret" phone that you're hiding from, say, an abusive partner, you might want to turn it completely off between 2pm and 3pm EDT today (11am and noon PDT).

    January's election of McCarthy as Speaker (with ten zillion endless rounds going into the night) was more procedurally urgent than this Speaker election will be. With the new congress, there was no speaker, and the House was basically unable to conduct business until they elected one. But now, mid-term, there's an acting speaker pro tempore (McHenry), and so the House can do other things if it chooses.

    > One thing that makes Trump's case different is that the witnesses in his case are also public figures.

    So people with a public profile need to be okay with someone with a massive public presence going after you with rhetoric that can be reasonably presumed to incite violence against them?

    Do we need some new laws narrowly tailored to stochastic terrorism?

    If criminal law doesn't provide effective remedies for a person who blatantly and clearly threatens the safety of people who are even remotely connected to his prosecution, then, perhaps, some way should be found to constrain his behavior?

    Short form:

    IF something clearly isn't working,
    THEN fix it.

    ??? If there's a prosecutor involved, the value per gram is irrelevant. It's all about minimizing bulkiness so you can keep it out of the prosecutor's eyesight. Robert Menendez left way too many breadcrumbs about for it to matter.
