2024 será el año de Linux (?): «Linux hits nearly 4% desktop user share on Statcounter» (www.gamingonlinux.com)

According to Statcounter, which should be taken with a pinch of salt of course like any sampling, the Linux share on the desktop hit nearly 4% in Decemeber 2023. Last month was a record too and a clear trend over time, as going back a couple of years, it was rarely coming close to 2% but now it’s repeatedly nearing 4% so...

I’ve just deployed a self hosted vikunja server for my work team. I’m trying it right now. So far it looks pretty well. You can add tasks, group them into projects and establish relationships between them. I recoomend to give it a chance. vikunja.io

44 KHz wasn’t chosen randomly. It is based in the range of frequencies that humans can hear (20Hz to 20KHz) and the fact that a periodic waveform can be exactly rebuild as the original (in terms of frequency) when sampling rate is al least twice the bandwidth. So, if it is sampled at 44KHz you can get all components up to 22 KHz whics is more that we can hear.

Can I clear cookies upon closing LibreWolf and then have it reopen previous tabs upon startup? As I understand it, activating the "Delete cookies and site data when LibreWolf is closed" option also triggers the "Clear history when LibreWolf closes" setting, preventing LibreWolf from restoring the previous session upon startup.

Why is Session Restore not working? Session restore will not work unless you preserve your browsing history. However, LibreWolf deletes history on shutdown by default. If you want to use session restore, set your browser to not delete history, via settings or overrides.

Why would you want to send SMS from your computer? 🤷‍♂️

BEWARE ! People who create fake email account to login to social media.

A facebook employee explained me how tracking works. Its not the email address Meta is concerned about. Its the IP, device identifiers and location. Meta doesnt care about the email at all apart from sending you emails for notification. Even with a fake email they exactly know who you are. Let’s say you visit CNN.com which has...

There’s a lo of information that sites, not only Facebook, use to track you. Email address can be one this. Anyway, I consider that using anonymous email address is a good idea not only to avoid tracking, also for security reasons I case of filtering, for instance.

Best Linux Distro Privacy/Usability for a mid level user

What do you think is the best linux distro for a user who wants to migrate from windows in terms of privacy, usability and respect for the FOSS spirit?

I'm thinking to give a chance to https://elementary.io

Any way to listen to music (privately?) (lemmy.ml)

I’m going insane. I cannot for the life of me find a suitable way to listen to music privately. I’m on iOS, and I don’t know whether to just stick to Apple Music or give up on music in general (I tried, TRIED to go local, but all the apps are shitty). Any way to listen to music and not have your data compromised? Should I...
