‼️➡️ Hey!! Important update!! We have launched 25.1 to solve a problem with crashes that several users were experiencing after updating to 25.0.

The bug causing it is now solved in Tusky 25.1. Now available on Play Store and in a day or two in F-Droid.

Sorry for the inconveniences caused to the affected users!!

@Tusky@mastodon.social avatar

@wortezimmer No worries! first check in the faq if you can use it, because if your instance is not in versión 25 you can,t use the translation option.

https://tusky.app/faq/#why-cant-i-find-the-translate-option-on-posts

If you can, you will find the translation option in the menu that appears when you touch the three dots option in the bottom right of each toot. There you will find the option Translate. Click on it and you will have the translation in seconds.

Tusky,
@Tusky@mastodon.social avatar

@brschneider @wortezimmer which Tusky version do you have? it is the 25.0 or 25.1 you should have it if your instance is social. To locate it click on the three dots in the bottom right if the toot you want to translate and choose the option in the menu when appears.
If you still do not have the option check this faq to see what happens.

What Killed The Movie Trailer? (www.youtube.com)

Movie Trailers may have started out as a tool to sell films, but over time they have evolved into their own spectacle. Before a film is released there are a multitude of Theatrical Trailers, TV Spots, Web Shorts, and even Trailers before the Trailer starts. How did Hollywood turn from a simple marketing tool, to a an ever...

Technically speaking it is not a distribution.

“Bazzite is a custom image of Fedora Atomic Linux 40, utilizing Universal Blue’s custom image framework designed to bring users the best in Linux gaming for their PCs, including the Steam Deck and other handhelds.”

I’m too busy playing games and having no issues, to write why it’s amazing.

I am at 237 days with no issues, and that issue was Valves anyway.

Newsletter:

I used to write personal GitHub gists in the 6 years I’ve been using Linux/Fedora. To share with others to tweak their Fedora installs for gaming. Don’t have to do that anymore!

I’m not familiar with pyo3_async, but I don’t think you can force Python asyncio to use the Tokio event loop. This is discussed in the documentation of a different PyO3 async crate, pyo3-asyblncio: docs.rs/pyo3-asyncio/latest/pyo3_asyncio/-two…

It was wise of @drewdevault to host redict (redis fork) on @Codeberg to maintain workflow parity with github and avoid any perceived conflicts of interest¹.

I wondered why LGPL and not of AGPL², which is also explained nicely: "but we want to make it as easy as possible for users to comply with the Redict license and we do not see any reason to discourage cloud providers from making use of Redict."

Hope other marquee projects follow suite.

@mdione Here's the very short of it - https://cert-manager.io/docs/faq/#why-isnt-my-root-certificate-in-my-issued-secrets-tlscrt

It's a very longwinded debate however. Red Hat interprets the spec as explicit. Cert Manager, browser vendors, and others don't agree and everyone else in between has to find workarounds for stuff being broken that otherwise shouldn't be because of that disagreement.

I decided to block threads.net with a domain block list. Initially I thought maybe I don't have to hurry to do anything about it, since on my feed timeline newer popped up any threads account.
Since I'm here because I want an alternative and doesn't want to be part of any Meta or other surveillance capitalist social network, better to be proactive than wait till problems that those platforms start to show up here.

"Facebook, Instagram, and Meta's business model is to make money by exploiting users data and amplifying right-wing propaganda, conspiracy theories, and disinformation." Just a loosely quoted part from the excellent article about why to block threads.

Here's the guide to how to block the whole threads domain:

Deebster, to rust in Gleam, developed with Rust, reaches version 1.0.

It looks interesting. While the compiler is written in Rust (a RRIR from Erlang), the code itself runs on the Erlang VM or on JS. Unfortunately, you can’t do hot code reloading and I’m curious what/if you have to sacrifice to run on JS.

Their cheatsheet for Rust users might be of interest to others.
