Apparently it's the summer of crop tops.

I wonder how this gets started. I'm absolutely sure this isn't a bunch of women going "oh, yes, let's all buy crop tops".

Presumably the big clothing stores just flood the shelves with crop tops to try and convince people to buy new clothes, since obviously they won't have any crop tops in their closet. None newer than fifteen fucking years old, anyway.

It's fascinating to watch largely harmless fads like these.

I am so deeply tired of every games job interview trying to find out how much I'm going to love their project or how much it aligns with my tastes.

Look, I am a professional. I have been doing this 25 years. I want to do my job at 100%, make whatever I am building better than it otherwise would be, get paid, and then go home.

I'm not in it for the passion. The passion died a long time ago. Now I just want to pay my mortgage.

I know this sounds exclusionary, but if you plan to make entertaining videos for an audience, GET A DECENT MIC.

You don't need to spend much. They show up used all the time, for <30% list price. Something like a Yeti - nothing snazzy, but something that doesn't sound like you're recording audio through your gamer headset.

I keep taking chances on new streamers or LPers, but it's literally hard to listen to them.

Trying to find good software these days feels absolutely impossible. The web is flooded with spam results, SEO trash, and trying to search app stores themselves feels like punching yourself in the face.

You know I thought the internet had gotten weirdly slow lately? And it was annoying me.

Found out last night I disabled pihole blocking some time ago and forgot to turn it back on.

Now the internet is fast again.

I literally don't know how people use this trash without blocking most of the universe.

hey bird people I saw a very large almost completely white bird today, flying towards a forested area, and the only thing I know for certain is that it wasn't a seagull. it had a pretty big wingspan, and shape-wise, made me think falcon or hawk. But it was almost completely white.

Any idea what I saw? Southern ontario for context.

Hey, does anyone who games from linux, and with FF14 especially, have familiarity with keyboard latency problems? Mine was fine until the past few days, when suddenly key-up doesn't register for a quarter second and it's messing me up.

Key repeat makes it worse, turning that off improves it, but not completely. Not sure if it was an Ubuntu 22.04 update issue or if something else happened.

Boosts appreciated for anyone who might have seen this. Does seem FF14 specific at the moment.
