He stood idly by and did nothing except for when he himself was running for president against Trump and started an attack campaign against him that fizzled once he couldn’t get into the primaries. The same campaign where he spent $300,000 of the city’s money on his campaign and didn’t repay, racking up a $150,000 fine. The same campaign that he took inappropriate donations on, and was fined another $50k by the FEC. Is that what you are talking about? The upstanding citizen Bill de Blasio, the towering pillar of virtue that dedicated his career to fighting corporate and political greed. You’re right, I didn’t read the article. I didn’t fucking need to.

How about we stop logging the image of every human on the planet under the guise of “security.” I’ve seen how much respect corporations have for security in the annual teardown of hacked company’s email and password lists. I’m not interested in you having a copy of my face along with my bank card info, address, birthdate, and full name all underneath an exhaustive arbitration agreement, because when you lose it, I’ll be the one that gets fucked, and you’ll get another slap on the fucking wrist.

Big “no one understands my art” vibes coming off that dev. You made a mediocre game for an outrageous amount and released it in one of the heaviest gaming release years in recent memory. Sorry, this year a new IP with a 74% on metacritic doesn’t cut it. They say EA dropped 40mil on the advertising for it, but this is litterally the first I’ve heard about it, and frankly I’m the target audience for this game. I bet this shit was shoved down the throats of Fortnight and Valorant players via tiktok.

He has a handler to guide him around because he’s in a huge fucking suit and can’t see anything. This is a money grab from someone looking to get rich off an out of court settlement, and she’s going to burn anyone she can to get that scrilla.

It’s 100% cynicism, I won’t hide that. We just see climate crimes happen all the time, and the companies behind it either ignore the problem they’ve created, or if we’re lucky, pay a small fine that barely puts a dent in the profits they’ve made from the pollution. I’m all for identifying those that harm the environment, but I feel like we already have a pretty solid list of those companies. What we really need to do ramp up the punishment to make it not worth it for them. None of these companies are mustache-twirling villains in it to destroy the environment, they are mustache-twirling villains in it for the profit.

They aren’t hiding now. We know who they are. It’s not like some dude in Ethiopia is out there emptying cans of CFCs into the ozone and we’ve just missed him. They work in broad daylight and charge us for the pleasure of their services.

He doesn’t want his party to fight against climate change, he wants to have his cake and eat it, too. The whole article is about coal and oil jobs, thinly veiled threats that anyone who isn’t a conservative wants those jobs gone.

You know what?

He’s fucking right.

I want those jobs gone. I want a homeless crisis of hundreds of thousands of coal miners without jobs. You know why? Because in 100 years the world will be healthier for future generations. I’m sorry that your job of choice is killing the planet, but I’m not willing to sacrifice the world for your fucking paycheck. Even though the bit about Biden telling miners to learn to code was twisted, I agree with the twisted message, too. Fucking find something better to do with your lives. I really don’t give a shit what it is, just fucking do it. Suck it up, sacrifice and learn a new trade, and maybe your grandkids won’t die of lung cancer at 45. I’m tired of waiting around for someone to have the stones to take action. I don’t really give a shit any more, and if that makes me an asshole, I’ll live with it, but fuck, this shit is getting old. If we move towards annihilation at 1mph or 100, it doesn’t matter, we’ll get there eventually. It’s time to stop the ride. The warning signs have been there for decades. Your blessed Grand Ol’ Party obscured the facts, and if you want to blame someone for you not having a job when the mine shuts down, blame them. They lied to you and told you that it was a hoax. The democrats just need to rip the bandaid off.

It took 9 hours to stop him from firing rounds. 127 rounds from a .40 handgun. This wasn’t some 15 minute shooting spree. He was at it like it was his job. Hell, he probably took a lunch break.

The same thing that happens to a lot of extremist groups, they refuse to adapt and align with others that aren’t the same as them, but share their viewpoint. The Panthers did not hold women in the same regard as men, and thus, their female membership was non-existent. Towards the end, there are stories of brutality against women, and during the late 70s and early 80s, women were attempting to gain more rights for themselves. Imagine being a member of the Panthers and having a wife that was a feminist. It doesn’t take violence to overthrow a movement, simply reducing their numbers at the street level can be enough to ground them. With fewer and fewer men joining or staying with the panthers, and the issues surrounding Huey P. Newton, the power of the party declined and eventually collapsed under itself with no one to support it.

This is a super simplified and very narrow argument for the downfall of the Panthers. I would suggest reading up more on it. There are plenty of books on the subject. Just remember that the more you read and study, the greater an informed position can be reached. Don’t rely on just one narrative or one viewpoint. Read, analyze, and discuss with others. Knowledge is gained slowly and deliberately and rarely completed.

It’s an end-user plateau for the moment, but there are still tons of things going on underneath the hood. From the outside it may not look like things are moving, but we’ve gone from Model-T to Chevy Bel Air fairly quickly, and while the difference is huge, the engineers are still trying to get us to Bugatti Veyron level. Until then, we are going to have a long “80 and 90s” period of sameness.

Problem is that everyone else’s kids pay for your retirement, which means that your incentive to do the work of raising kids goes away; Social Security puts the load on people who have kids to turn them into the next generation of productive workers. It’s great if you never raise kids, but it’s a pretty raw deal if you do raise kids.

I think it more closely follows social insurance than simply asking for a handout from everyone else’s kids. Afterall, you are paying into it until you are eligible, and when you are eligible, a person just one year younger than you is supporting you. Saying that it’s just “kids” paying into it makes it seem like we all stop paying into Social Security when we turn 25. I agree that the onus falls to the next generation in so much that it is their burden to pay into, but making it seem like we are forcing them into baby farms to push out kids to pay for our retirement is a bit dramatic. The population would have to take a pretty drastic nosedive over one generation to cause the system to collapse for the current retired generation, and the population numbers of the US don’t support that line of logic.

The biggest issue that we are running into with Social Security is the Wage Base Limit that stops the payment of Social Security tax after you are taxed a certain amount. It adjusts for inflation each year, which is great, but it doesn’t adjust for the disparity in wealth. Sure, the average person makes a certain amount per year, but that average doesn’t mean anything anymore when it’s the smallest percentage of earners in America. There are too many that don’t pay up to the cap due to their low wage, and too many that make more than the cap and don’t pay any more, and so we are left with a shrinking bank of fund as the wealth disparity increases each year. If we want to fix Social Security, we don’t need to set up “generation funds”, we need to abolish the Wage Base Limit and force everyone to pay in the 6.8% they owe, instead of just relying on the bottom 60% of Americans to do what they can.

As far as 401(k) goes, those are dependant on a volatile market, and often struggle to meet inflation, making them just slightly better than hiding your money in a mattress, but if you hide it in your mattress you don’t have to pay a fee if there is a medical emergency you needs the funds for. 401(k) is great for people with true disposable income in the excess of thousands a month, but there aren’t enough of those people around anymore, and they aren’t the ones that will rely on Social Security, anyway.

And though President Joe Biden is “an uninspiring candidate who doesn’t have any main-character energy,”

Sigh.

Come the fuck on. Just shut the fuck up, you dipshit. “Main character energy.” Motherfucker, it’s not Goku VS. Vegeta for the 2024 bid. It’s the goddamned leader of the country. Maybe not having main character energy is a good thing. Maybe instead of having a pissing contest we can have have an actual ballot. I’m sorry, I’m probably expecting too much when I hope that ego takes a back seat and the person I’m talking to literally named himself “tha god.” Fucking moron.

If this were a better joke, I’d be on Ricky’s side, but it’s not even really funny. He says something controversial, and then immediately sets it up as a strawman so he can play the victim of the outrage the joke is supposed to generate. The article is basically a continuation of the joke. I’m on the fence on if the woman who started the petition is actually real. This all feels like an ad to generate controversy and get people to watch the special, which, based on this clip, isn’t very good.
