Seinfeld slams woke student audiences: “Back when I dated high school girls, they found me hilarious!” (www.thebeaverton.com)

HOLLYWOOD – With his Netflix comedy film Unfrosted debuting to abysmal reviews, 70-year-old comedian Jerry Seinfeld blames the failure on “extreme left, and PC college campus audiences”, unlike in his heyday, when the teenage girls he dated were fans of his comedy.

circuscritic, (edited )

The show was funny because Larry David is a cantankerous curmudgeon who’s afflictions just happen to be a hilarious source of comedy material for him to write with. Also, the strength of Seinfeld’s costars let them carry the shows comedic acting and timing.

The show is funny in spite of Seinfeld, not because of him. The fact that he insisted on doing those god-awful stand-up bits on every episode is all the proof you’ll ever need about that.

circuscritic,

That’s doubly ironic considering Modi’s role in orchestrating anti-muslim pogroms, and the Indian government’s role in countless pogroms against Sikhs.

circuscritic,

He’s not just the only anti-abortion Democrat serving in Congress, but party leadership and power brokers threw all of the influence and money that they could to defeat his challenger from the left during the last primary. He just barely won because they dragged him across the finish line.

FYI this DOJ investigation and plenty more were known when the Democratic party establishment decided to invest all that time and effort into defeating his primary challenger.

It didn’t matter that he was a dirty scumbag who was staring down an indictment, he would vote how they wanted him to i.e. fuck the base and big ups the donor class.

circuscritic,

You think Biden is bad? Well what about this game of alternative history where something worse happens? Guess that means his support of an active genocide is actually a good thing, huh?

Wow, you’re right. I really didn’t consider your fictional alternative history universe when forming my opinions on events in this reality.

circuscritic,

They will be the two major party candidates.

But the comment I was responding to is basically saying “We have to support Biden’s genocide and turn to fascism because the GOP’s brand of facsism would be even worse”.

Even if you accept that argument, or believe the tradeoff is worth it, those advocating it for always conspicuously leave out the moral hazard portion of that equation in regards to the message their unwavering support sends to the Democratic party leadership:

No matter what you do, including actively contributing to a genocide, we will still vote for you to keep the GOP from power.

Personally, I think one openly fascist party is already too much in our two party system and believe we shouldn’t take anything off the table to prevent us from having two of them.

circuscritic,

Yes, voting for the party and candidates that I want to vote for based on my own convictions - which right now doesn’t include any national Democratic candidates.

If you’re happy with the Democratic party, then vote for them.

If you believe that the path of Democratic party is headed on is acceptable, then vote for them.

If you can accept that the Democratic party will only get worse from here, but believe that’s still better than the GOP, then vote for them.

You do whatever you feel is best for you.

circuscritic,

Why does my vote have to align with your internal political game theory monologue?

Just FYI your hypothetical would be the biggest electoral defeat for an American party in modern history and would probably force the Democrats to actually to be responsive to their base.

Think of all the policies that the Democratic base want, but that the current iteration of the party refuses to deliver on: Medicare for all, Israeli policy, Pro Act, tax reform, expanding social safety nets, etc.

But, again, I’m just voting my own conscience. You support what your conscience tells you to.

circuscritic, (edited )

So if the Democrats lose power, that will actually help their leadership retain their hold on power.

But if the Republicans lose power, it will actually help the party heal, presumably because it cause a change in GOP party leadership?

Tell me, what font of political wisdom and experience are you drawing upon to arrive at these conclusions?

Because as someone who’s actually lived and worked in and around party politics for most of my life, I got to tell you, what you’re saying doesn’t align with what I’ve seen.

circuscritic, (edited )

I hate to break it to all you conspiracy nuts, but I read the police incident report and all the cars were known to have been feeling depressed in the days leading up to their suicide pact.

Case. Closed.

circuscritic,

I recently switched my main Linux laptop to Fedora and I have to say, it’s probably the most stable and clean distro I’ve ever used.

circuscritic,

No, it’s a way to say that Mint has become bloated and not a great experience.

I just switched to Fedora from Mint, and was impressed.

circuscritic,

Did I miss the part of the article that described an active shooter?

All I read was there were shots, kids ran, and “threat was neutralized”.

That chain of events could just as easily describe someone gunning down a random innocent person who actually posed no threat.

Maybe this happened as the headline would like us to believe, but that article isn’t enough to prove it.

circuscritic, (edited )

They only mention one shooter, the person who merked the alleged threat. They say nothing to substantiate the claim that anyone else was shooting, or even aiming a gun.

Did you even read the article…?

circuscritic, (edited )

The vagueness of a police statement makes it more credible? That sounds like a fairly dubious approach IMO.

circuscritic,

The article claims an active shooter was neutralized.

The article only discusses shooting in the context of someone being shot, the alleged active shooter.

That article, at the time that I read it, did nothing to describe anyone else firing a gun, except for the “hero” who allegedly neutralized that’s supposed to threat.

Let me put it this way. Let’s say I’m walking past a middle school with a gun, I see you, and promptly gun you down and claim that you we’re an active shooter threat - even though you fired no shots.

The article, as it was written, could just of easily been written about that fictional scenario.

You understand my problem with it now?

circuscritic, (edited )

Great, so then we agree. The article only describes someone being killed, and all it does to justify that killing is to label them an active shooter.

But the only person the article describes as firing any shots, is the one who killed the supposed threat.

Maybe that person was a threat, I don’t know. I just know the article was so poorly written and sourced, that it shouldn’t have been published.

“Man kills another man, but pinky promises that guy was about to kill a bunch of kids. No further information necessary, obviously checks out”.

circuscritic,

Right, and that scenario along with the quote could just as easily been applied to the hypothetical alternative scenario I laid out on my last comment.

This is just a terribly written and poorly sourced article that no editor should have allowed to be published.

circuscritic, (edited )

You’re looking at it wrong. This is a scheme to collect mass amounts of biometric data. What’s the end goal? No idea, but I doubt it’ll be to the benefit of mankind.

circuscritic,

Even if you believe that, and trust the people running these scanning stations, synthetic images generated from biometric hashes are still a thing, such as with Masquerade.

circuscritic,

They don’t say who was targeted, but I bet this is a backdoor way to infiltrate specific projects. So if they have a list of 163 projects they see a benefit in gaining some sort of access to, they then compile a target list from the relevant developers/contributors to all of those projects, and go from there.

This isn’t the type of campaign that can be spammed to anyone and everyone both due to logistics and to minimize exposure of the tools being used.

Power vacuums and breakaway republics forming from the decaying corpse of an empire with the largest stockpile of nuclear weapons is probably not going to leave the world better off.

circuscritic,

This isn’t a movie where there is a definitive implosion moment when foreign powers will able to just waltz in and “secure” their mass stockpile of nuclear weapons, or all of their ICBM silos.

This is a massive country with a distributed nuclear triad who’s capabilities are meant to withstand a first strike, and still be able to absorb a few more rounds of nuclear armageddon.

Guess again on how that scenario of foreign powers invading to capture their nuclear weapons would unfold.

circuscritic,

Yeah, probably…but that’s entirely irrelevant to this story about Russia.

circuscritic,

What are the odds this is Germany’s “deep state” aka bureaucratic institutions stitching them up because they’re unable, or unwilling, to democratically stem their rise?

It’s not like Western governments haven’t been doing that to socialist and Communist parties long before the Cold War even started.

Of course, the news that any contemporary far right organization has ties to Russia, including financial, isn’t surprising. Maybe it’s a bit of both, because I have serious doubts that Germany’s other parties could withstand financial audits tying their members to shady dealings with China either.

circuscritic,

Odd. I see no mention that these were American trained troops, but I do see an intentional attempt to shift blame elsewhere.
