DeSantis thinks he can beat Trump by showing he’s a more effective asshole. And he is a more effective asshole. But he doesn’t understand that, for people who like assholes, it’s not about being effective; it’s about being an asshole.
I genuinely hate posting about politics and I rarely did it before 2018 or so. But shit has gotten so goddamn fucked that I feel, if I don’t hit the pressure relief valve, I may end up physically harming myself. So please indulge me until we either get past this or my internet access gets shutdown down for my own good by the Supreme Leader.
To this day, I still regularly think about one meaningless bit of a podcast from what must‘ve been more than a decade ago: @adamlisagor was the guest on @gruber’s Talk Show. They briefly chatted about The Royal Tenenbaums, specifically the scenes where Bill Murray’s character evaluated the kid for psychic abilities and would say “Fascinating” even though the kid’s behavior suggested he perhaps had some mental impairment rather than special powers. The podcast conversation moved on from there…
Hey, look, I finally got my Bluesky invite after, what, a year? I almost ignored it, but decided to download the app, sign up, look at it for a minute, then delete it. Glad I finally got that taken care of.
Fellow MSTies (or MSTie-curious): In case you haven’t heard, there’s a new campaign to make another new season. It ends soon and it’s struggling. The circumstances with the strikes haven’t been ideal for promotion, and I personally am not as enthused as I used to be, but I do think more Mystery Science Theater 3000 is a net positive for society, so… help make more #MST3K, won’t you? #MakeMoreMST3K
Every time I get a spam email from a hacker who secretly recorded me looking at online porn and masturbating, they never end up sending that video footage to all my friends and family—which is annoying because I always forget to film myself doing it, so it would save me a lot of trouble if I could just get the recording from them.
I’ve never used Chat-GPT for anything, not even for fun. I’d probably find it useful in some ways, but I just don’t trust AI. And I don’t mean I don’t trust it in a suspicious, paranoid way; I mean I don’t trust it to provide factual and accurate information 100% of time. If it’s accurate most of the time, that’s worse than none of the time. So, please let me know when it’s perfect.
If the 2nd amendment establishes a right to guns as all-encompassing as gun nuts argue, shouldn’t guns be free? Seems like it’d be unconstitutional to make me fork over 300 bucks or whatever just so I can exercise my god-given right to shoot stuff. Doesn’t that violate the equal protection clause of the 14th amendment?
We’re never going to solve mass shootings with more guns unless we give poor people guns for free. We’ll need to nationalize the gun manufacturers, but I’m sure they won’t mind.
I haven’t been following the story closely, but is that Twitter rando guy the main one complaining about bad Humane reviews? Is he associated with the company somehow? I’m not sure what’s going on.
Hobby Lobby, “based on many factors, including customer interest and what sells well,” has stopped carrying seasonal product lines for Mardi Gras, Hanukkah, and Halloween.
I’m not interested in the culture war angles on this, but I think it’s amusing that they discontinued Halloween decorations for lack of interest. Halloween. The holiday that single-handedly supports a nationwide chain of hobby stores that exist for two months every year.
There’s far too little public complaining about Apple #HomePod. It must be the least functional product they make. I have a new HomePod and a HomePod mini, I use them every day, and I experience a “not working” event probably once every two days. WiFi is hard, I guess?
Follow-up: Does anyone have any recommendations for #HomePod alternatives? I don’t care much about smart speaker functionality (although I like the HomeKit integration), so I really just need good quality #AirPlay speakers that don’t require 10-20 minutes of daily troubleshooting. Help?
Thank god someone has the courage to stand up to Joe Biden’s tyrannical inconveniencing of gun sellers. If this lawsuit prevents even one gun show dealer from suffering the degradation of running a background check, all the dead kids will have been worth it. https://journa.host/@w7voa/112367167347778364
And also: Jesus Christ, there’s never been a more histrionic bunch of whiny bitches in politics. Are we sure that when Trump said he could “grab them by the pussies”, he wasn’t just talking about the Republican Party?
