Just booked our chimney sweep, the earliest appointment I could get was late November.

He's super busy between now and Christmas.

Right, wish me luck. I'm about to tear apart our bedroom to do a deep clean. Hopefully between my face mask, air filter going on high, and the windows wide open, I won't get an asthma attack 😬

I'm about halfway thorough and found so many giant dust bunnies 👀

craftygardennz,
@craftygardennz@mastodon.nz avatar

The next part of the bedroom allergy plan is to run through all the bedding through the dryer at 60˚C for ten minutes to kill the dust mites...and our dryer just stopped working 😬

@CarolynStirling With my birch allergy, if I dry the sheets outside in the sun right now they'll get coated in pollen, which I'll then bring inside to put on the bed 😬

I haven't gotten any work done today.

I've gotten a blood test, drove into town, dropped off plants to my sister and hung out with her for a little bit.

Went to the warehouse to get socks, and ended up getting, sock and a belt, 3 tomato cages, and a cat advent calendar 🐱

Then I went to Spotlight and picked up work supplies (okay this may be work).

Then went to Frozen Direct to pick up stuff hubby wanted.

We should just not give it back when it's time to send it back to the British Museum.

I'm happy to donate money for any court case that eventuates.

Gah, two of my dahlia tubers have sprouted and are above ground.

It's far too early, and I'll have to cover them every night until after the last frost to protect them 😬

craftygardennz,
@craftygardennz@mastodon.nz avatar

@jonoabroad It's a complete guessing game, I keep a note of it each year 😬

In Mosgiel, Dunedin the last frosts were:
2019 - 7 October
2020 - 9 October
2021 - 27 September
2022 - Snow on the ground 8th October, last frost 25 October...

It's all very random, and it all depends on when any southerlies come through in late Sept - early Oct

Hubby has just made his famous rhubarb and ginger meringue pie, and we’re not allowed to eat it until the middle has set 😬

My mum needed a RAT set so went to local pharmacy, listed as a site for to collect them. They wanted to charge her $30 for 10. I contacted the Ministry of Health to ask, and they referred me to this link -

https://healthpoint.co.nz/covid-19/?covidTesting=&covidTesting=im%3A1295965

so if you go to pick up a set, and the pharmacy wants to charge you, tell them they are free.

craftygardennz,
@craftygardennz@mastodon.nz avatar

@christopherd Our GP and local pharmacy both have a giant box RAT tests with a sign saying take as many as you want.

I’m not a fan of science fiction but Mrs B is.

At the moment we’re watching this show on Apple TV called Foundation. Jo seems to understand the plot, but I sit there baffled not having a single clue what is going on. It might as well be spoken in another language. Perhaps it is?

Am I alone in this?

craftygardennz,
@craftygardennz@mastodon.nz avatar

@billbennett Hubby has read all the books in the Foundation series, and we watched season 1 and part of season 2. He gave up, saying it's not as good.

Us and 9 other vehicles have been damaged and towed by a massive pothole on SH1 12km north of Taupō, bracketed by median barriers. Police in attendance etc. Got a police event number for when we send the bill to Waka Kotahi.

@vik ouch, sorry it happened to you. At what point does a pothole become a sinkhole 🤔

I’ve grown flax both here in Wellington and Dunedin. It’s very easy to grow. I haven’t processed mine yet though.

Boo. Forgot to specify "cat is a chonk” when we got our double glazing, so the holes are 220mm - which is too small for a “large cat/small dog” door. He can get thru, but it’s …. tight.

Not sure I want to spend $800++ + the alu panel for a new double glazed panel either…. Might just be opening the doors a lot for him.

@fastchicken Maybe your cat chonk can go on a bit of a diet 🤣

Whenever the govt removes covid protections, the local populace like to hassle me for still wearing a mask out in public 😬
