There's a lot of covid going around Dunedin at the moment. Both my sisters families came down with covid in the last two weeks, and they hadn't even been in contact with each other.

Just finished reading A Day of Fire: A novel of Pompeii, written by six authors. It follows six characters in the lead up to the eruption at Pompeii, and what happened during the event. The characters stories are interwoven with terrific detail about what Pompeii was like, and how it ended up.

Some of the characters and their families and friends do not have a happy ending in this book. But it is fiction based on discoveries made at Pompeii when it was excavated.

South Dunedin Countdown/Woolworths to close for two days to deal with the rat issue.

If they're resorting to this, the rat problem must be a lot bigger than thought, or they're losing so much business they have to do something drastic 🤔

@Rjdlandscapes Hey hon ... if I were to get a cheap EV car what might be your recommendations?

I don't want an EV car for daily driving, I have the motorcycle for that. What I want is something for roadtripping places. I know with something cheap I wouldn't have great range, but I don't mind charging regularly (tho I wouldn't want the range to be under 100km, lol).

@sarahhbickerton @Rjdlandscapes Popping in to say, I would go for a second hand 40kW Nissan Leaf. They're reliable, just check their SOH when buying.

@sarahhbickerton @Rjdlandscapes We never had a problem charging with the air cooled with our 24 kW driving back and forth from Christchurch to Dunedin. Charge Net chargers have both Chademo and CCS.

@RedRobyn @sarahhbickerton @Rjdlandscapes Yeah, 30 kW are a special case, which is why I suggested the 40 kW.

My SIL came to us for suggestions on an EV after driving our 60kW, and she ended up going for a 40 kW. She loves her secondhand Leaf, and hoons around Christchurch and surrounds, working, and doing school pick ups and after school stuff. She says they're saving so much money on not buying fuel anymore.

I'm selling my beloved 8 shaft Le Clerc Colonial V1 floor loom on Trade Me.

Ever since I got tendonitis in my left shoulder two years ago, I just can't use my big floor loom without having a lot of pain in my shoulder. I want to downgrade to a smaller loom, but can't do that until I sell my big floor loom.
