Pons_Aelius,

You gotta understand that in terms of traffic (this includes bots and streamers), we’re nowhere near reddit to make any difference.

What I don't understand is why that matters. Why make it an us vs them thing?

If you want to move on from R, move on.

Given that, what would we have accomplished had we just stayed silent?

Exactly what was achieved, nothing. The API blackouts showed the admins don't care what the community thinks or wants, and no amount of fuck spez on r/palce was going to change that.

If you want to save R, this is not the place to do it. (and it cannot be done.)

A lot of people are blissfully unaware of the protests.

And the majority of R users will never care. That is my point. Most people go there for fun and do not care about anything else.

That will not change.

A little more comfortable with Kbin now, but new questions FAQ (kilioa.org)

I'm glad my first FAQ was helpful for a lot of people new to Kbin and even to the Fediverse. It was made before some federation issues with kbin.social started so I created this new Magazine to help spread the load out a bit for FAQs....

azura,

It's alright. I do think the actual issue was worded perhaps a bit harshly and combative, and I think you responded correctly. Very much appreciate the accountability here. To be honest if anything, this probably gives me more faith in you in the long run. There are many ways you could have dealt with it, but as far as I can see you've dealt with the issue as honorably as you could have.
Proper attribution can be tricky. We all learn. We all make mistakes. A lot of us will never release a project that makes it as far as yours has so even our issues don't become even nearly as visible.
Keep your head up and stay calm. You're doing great. We got you.

A small FAQ to hopefully help new users to kbin (minor updated June 17 20:40 GMT) (kilioa.org)

I wanted to post this here since I want to help as much as I can in my own way to people coming here for the first time. I hope it is useful and helpful! I tried to assume low knowledge with the Fediverse in my responses which I collected here from a different post and assembled into a single article....

/kbin update - upvotes, boosts, languages...

Hi everyone, You may have noticed a small change on the website. From now on, upvotes work just like on Lemmy - they are equivalent to Mastodon's "favourite." You can boost a post using the button that replaced "favourite." Another change is that you can now rate and boost your own posts. Boosting has a one-time effect - it...

sirvalkyerie, to kbinMeta

I run into a 500 error when trying to add moderators to my magazine. I didn't see it mentioned in the documentation, is that actually a feature that's not yet available?

sirvalkyerie,

nevermind! usernames are case sensitive? I didn't realize that. It's all good now! Thanks for the help

I’m confused now. I created a test account on my Calckey instance and followed a magazine from it. I’m able to tag the kbin magazine address in a post from the new account and it will show up in the microblogs section but the magazine account doesn’t seem to push the post to other accounts subscribed to the magazine that don’t know about the new Calckey account. Am I just misunderstanding how the magazine account works with federation? I guess I was expecting something more like what gup.pe or chirp social do and boost or push activities to all subscribed accounts regardless of where they are on the Fediverse.

Our old business cards were pretty ...well, old and didn't feature any important links, so it's about time for some new ones!

Zniw Adventure business card - variant 2. 'A dinosaur adventure!'
Zid Journey business card. 'A prehistoric journey!'
Azure Mountain business card.

/kbin - Sunny June Announcement

Hi everyone, it seems that we have quite a gathering here, and many of you I haven't had the chance to greet yet :) As some of you may know, /kbin is still in its early stages of development. Every day, improvements and new features are being worked on. Unfortunately, this may result in occasional short downtimes. However, the...

@dannekrose Wow, I see that you managed to set up your own instance. Are you familiar with PHP/Symfony? How would you rate the difficulty of this process?

Honestly lemmy seems like a decent backend for a blog with activitypub support, the only thing really missing is tags so it's more discoverable on other fedi platforms, but oh well, maybe that can be hacked in easily.

@awooo kbin does this, and I hope to see it coming to lemmy in the future too!
