It appears that some universities are banning masks of any kind at sites where they are holding their graduation ceremony. This is ableist, exclusionary, and completely unacceptable.
I'd guess the ban is not for the campus as a whole but for Gampel pavilion, in the background of the photo. it is the venue for the larger graduation ceremonies at uconn
About to leave Sacramento for home, the longest and most utterly boring part of our trips. (I5– Grapevine) Harris Ranch does have great bathrooms though. 🤭
Our realtor timed it out so we’d be driving home during an Open House today instead of kicking us/Hammy out for 3 hours tomorrow. Pays off to have our neighbor/friend in that role.
@GottaLaff if you're not in a hurry, take 5 to the 152 then cross over to 101 for a somewhat more interesting drive
if you're REALLY not in a hurry, cross all the way over to rte 1 for a beautiful (and very slow) drive. but best check first to ensure there are no road closures on 1
New! preprint coauthored with Charles Hulme: "When alternative analyses of the same data come to different conclusions: A tutorial using DeclareDesign with a worked real-world example".
We use DeclareDesign to compare 2 analyses of a RCT of Graphogame intervention that came to different conclusions https://osf.io/preprints/psyarxiv/vzg3e #intervention#analysis#simulation#literacy
Oy. Just imagine who the next GOP Senate leader could be.
Via Scott MacFarlane:
Sen Josh Hawley (R-MO) just now: “Mitch #McConnell is the least popular politician in America of either party. He is a symbol of everything that's wrong with Washington”
When I first signed up for Mastodon, I remember hearing about something called "The Mastodon Server Covenant." I just got curious about what is included in this, so I looked it up. The first commitment is “Active moderation against racism, sexism, homophobia and transphobia." Much to my disappointment, ableism is conspicuously absent from the document. I'm thoroughly bewildered. Why is that not included?
One of my pet hates with the morning rush hour train commute is those passengers who insist on occupying two seats, usually by placing their bag on the seat next to them. I know most of us would prefer a seat to ourselves, but the social contract says we need to share limited spaces in a fair manner, and not by passive-aggressively takening more than our fair share.
@paulhellyer
when I was a rider I didn't think twice about asking those people to move their stuff so I could sit. got me a few dirty looks but never failed to get me a seat
Due to some network recabling / reconfigurations at #uzh, some of our websites (progenetix.org, cancercelllines.org…) will experience “planned” outages on Monday, February 15 (2024-02-15) - and hard links to 130.60.240.68 won’t work anymore going forward.
