desertcave,

@gamingonlinux love this one specifically

Fixed a bug that caused audio devices with emojis in the name to break the settings UI.

I guess I'm at the stage in Warframe where I'm just gonna collect Liches and Sisters for their personalities now.

Got a Sister with great fashion sense and a cool personality, I have decided she's going to be my emotional support Vala-alike.

desertcave,

@AbandonedAmerica beautiful architecture, urban decay, and wordplay... possibly my favourite Mastodon post to date.

I honestly can't believe some people are still so backwards they think shooters aren't for women.

A lot of women I know play shooters, and they're also way better than me 💀

Games are for everyone.

desertcave,

@gamingonlinux on the flip side I'm glad more stereotypical "girl game" genres are trying to open up to cis/straight men.

Games are for everyone!

hmmmm, nobody has claimed anti.social as a domain name yet :blobfoxthink:

"The Mastodon instance for people who don't want to talk."

Someone with a slur in their name joined my room, and the slur is still there in the logs showing they were banned. Any way I can clean this up?

desertcave,

@austin in this case their display name, although the slur is in their ID as well, but this doesn't seem to show in the room's messages so it's less of a problem.

exam sucked

but I'm going to channel all the stress into just changing to a pure CS degree. Bipolar brain damage probably robbed me of being a cool maths person but whatever.

I've seen people talking about how tears of the kingdom replaces breath of the wild, and how there's no reason to go back to the first game, and I disagree

totk is nice and all, but botw definitely had a better focus on exploration and just traveling around the world that I didn't quite get from totk, which seems more focused on experimentation. it's good for its own reasons, but I don't feel like it replaces botw

also, I kinda wonder if totk has too much content? at 100 hours in, I still haven't found all the shrines yet, something I woulda done long ago in botw. I think by the time I can play to just have fun, I'll be tired of the game already, whereas with botw I had a good decent chunk of it, took a break, and then replayed it in master mode

basically, I could see myself going back to botw to replay over totk just on sheer length alone, but also because of the exploration aspect

desertcave,

@roxy I've been noticing that. Something about TotK isn't tickling me the way BotW did. I attributed it to boredom due to familiarity with BotW but I think you're right, the streamlining of movement and the better aerial mobility are robbing TotK of some of the sense of adventure.

I do like the depths though, it was cool jumping right on in and having something that felt very tense and challenging, and a different and more tricky and stealthy playstyle than the rest of the game. I think exposing players to more risk early on also helped prime that kind of relationship with the depths.

But yeah, agreed, they're very different games, even if the overworlds are very similar.

Apparently more sites are jumping on the "let's charge exorbitant prices on API access." We'll see how many more follow suite when these sites are doomed to irrelevancy

desertcave,

@roxy companies are getting awful comfortable with their monopolies

hoping if Discord starts a premium API I can persuade more people to jump to Matrix despite all its warts

I was gonna make a shitpost like "what if computers were like they are now, but long distance communication never evolved past morse code, so the computers used that but just sped up" and then I thought about it for a bit

desertcave,

@roxy extremely cursed pun, thank you :blobfoxhyper2:

  • desertcave,

@darth Maybe the story isn't landing for non-lore nerds? A big theme of Duviri for me is as the prologue for a "Wally Saga", as it establishes in a more immediate and intimate way why Wally is a threat.

I read Thrax as just being there as a show of how the Void can create hells for people, presumably in a directed and intentional way. I'm personally not sure he needed more characterisation.
