@openstreetmap Something really needs to be done about the 'Transport map' layer, because this is absolutely NOT a usable transport map: https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=15/50.8451/4.3570&layers=T

ekes,
@ekes@drupal.community avatar

@joachim OSMAnd's rendering for Public Transport works nicely, but I think that's because it's vectors and you can interact with it. Static tiles online https://www.öpnvkarte.de/#4.357;50.8451;15 might be more what you expect? It used to be a layer on osm.org iirc.

@joachim I looked at the wiki afterwards. I'm assuming it's not getting updated often enough: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Featured_tile_layers

Well that's pretty much confirmed it. Along with the cost of ethical accommodation in Barcelona. First one I'll skip for what? 18 years?

See you at devdays though :-)

@pcambra @jeni While wondering if there was a mobile version of zim https://zim-wiki.org/ I found out that https://f-droid.org/packages/net.gsantner.markor/ reads zim format wiki format.

OK, screen scraping Monmouthshire council site.

Seems to work, we'll see how it copes with the changes on the day.

Backlight LEDs know bin colours too :-) (boring when only one is green)

I start thinking: well the Local Authority's Open API move is all Open Referral and its Services. Then I stop.

Nope.

An iCal feed for that should do just fine. One per area. Bonus marks for searchable by address/postcode.

LocalGov Drupal will be able to do this out-of-the-box, including the location search, once Events can also be put in Directories - I'd say. That's being worked on now @joachim

Wondering if we should restrict registration temporarily with this spam rage mastodon is suffering, thoughts?

@gdemet @pcambra Given what I understand this instance is for I think expecting people to already have a d.o account is a pretty minimal bar.

DRUPALERS!

so what is doing about on an official level? because last i checked, there's only these 3 modules, and only the one is recommended --NOT EVEN THE ACTIVITYPUB ONE!

@blogdiva The challenge for my sites is and remains https://www.drupal.org/project/activitypub/issues/3272173 which was just too much work to do as a side issue. It's still active as https://www.drupal.org/project/activitypub/issues/3318782

I don't know about sites others have but it's usually the 'site' itself or a 'group' or some other 'entity' that is represented on the site and controlled by users, rather than user accounts that want to appear in the fediverse for the site.

@ekes@drupal.community avatar

@liaizon @blogdiva @swentel

Good question.

I just stopped when my sprint time ran out. It's still on the long-wish-list of things for a specific project. @andybroomfield bought it up for another (LocalGov Drupal) again not users but site sections run by users 'newsroom' or 'planning', 'traffic' etc. there.

After I stopped @kinta had worked on the issue too (second link) maybe they have a better idea how to move it again?

New track CfP @

Drupal, Joomla, TYPO3, and WordPress are thrilled to announce the call for proposals for our first combined Dev Room track at FOSDEM 2024 https://fosdem.org/2024

Though our CMS projects solve problems differently, the challenges we see ahead are the same. Working with FOSS should mean working together, making sure FOSS CMSs together make FOSS the obvious choice. That means caring for community, contribution, and code beyond our own.

Oh well, here we go again, DrupalCon Europe pricing is published and the early bird is 700€.

https://events.drupal.org/lille2023/registration-information

DrupalCon registration fee is higher than the minimum wage in 19 European countries.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_European_countries_by_minimum_wage

And only 12 scholarships have been granted https://events.drupal.org/lille2023/grants-scholarships-inclusion-funds

As far as I'm concerned, the licensed company to do this, Kuoni through the Association do not release the financial information of the event to the community.

Without digging the details of the DA, if it is 'representative', if it should be representative, who it should be representative of.

Purely on the point of should you be quiet, or even support, a decision by a body you disagree with. No. Minorities, even majorities, that disagree vocally about decisions made by those with more power, are what keep us from tyranny.

ekes,
@ekes@drupal.community avatar

@jurgenhaas @penyaskito @rachel_norfolk @pcambra

What are 'constant complaints' to you, are 'being vocal about decisions made by those with more power' to others. Those 'constant complaints' form the environment in which decisions have to be made. If 'constant complaints' are 'useless' then the decision making process is immune to the opinions of others. I think in this case that's not actually the case. If it wasn't for vocal groups other decisions would likely be made.

To which my (...)

@jurgenhaas @penyaskito @rachel_norfolk @pcambra second point. While I do find this one event too expensive and at some point maybe I'll stop coming. It's not one of my focuses. There's only so much time. Hence I didn't actually reply about that specifically. I will support those who do spend time on it. To suggest they need to come up with 'alternative solutions' is too simple. Without changing other things they would have to fix specifically the cost without affecting anything else to be (...)

@jurgenhaas @penyaskito @rachel_norfolk @pcambra acceptable. It also suggests that input has not been done, rather than has been decided against for whatever reasons. It suggests that it's a perfect process that would be able to accommodate the 'alternative solutions'. It's a whole set of decisions that determine the cost, and character, of events like this. Whose priorities are they that in the end make the decision?

ekes,
@ekes@drupal.community avatar

@jurgenhaas @penyaskito @rachel_norfolk @pcambra Was that a question to me? I made it quite clear this was not one of my priorities. There's only so much time in this world.

I understand finding it important that the one focal event be inclusive. So understand being vocal about it. Understand spend time on it. Suggesting do some different event seems dismissive. Anyway I support folks who want to keep pushing the inclusivity door, which ever way, for the reasons described in thread above.

That's gotta be one of the best bike routes Komoot has ever shown me, straight up

Tilburg 🇳🇱 via Barle-Nassau and its enclaves to Turnhout 🇧🇪

32km total distance, of which 30.9km is on cycle paths 😍

So doing that is a no-brainer then 😀

@partim @jon Het Bels Lijntje one of the routes in 'Atlas van de Verdwenen Spoorlijnen in Nederland' including pics of the remaining traces of the sation Baarle-Nassau Grens which had quite a turntable to send the trains back.
