I know language is fluid and I try not to be overly prescriptivist, but I am never going to be able to accept “learnings” as a valid noun. I’ve tried, but I just can’t, and I need to accept that about myself.

I've seen a link going around about adding &udm=14 to Google searches to get a “web" view without the usual crap.

I played around with this a bit this morning and there's an important caveat: Google appears to be sniffing the Referer header (or something similar).

If you add the URL parameter in the browser's address bar, you don't get the “web” view. If you use it in a link on a Slack channel, you do.

It's absolutely criminal that they are calling this the “web" view, because it ain’t.

@chockenberry I took it to mean updating search settings or creating your own search (via Launchbar et al) a la [https://www.google.com/search?q=%s&udm=14](https://www.google.com/search?q=%s&udm=14). It isn't simply tacking that onto the end, but initializing the search from the get go?

    I don’t get it. Biden has done a fantastic job as president and seen us through some of the toughest times in recent history. The economy is strong, unemployment is at 60-year lows, inflation is tamed. But there are people calling for that youngster to drop out? (I have 6 years on him…) Why aren’t they calling on the guy who’s been indicted in four places and charged 91 times to drop out?

    what git jargon do you find confusing? thinking of writing a blog post that explains some of git's weirder terminology: "detached HEAD state”, "fast-forward", "index/staging area/staged", “ahead of 'origin/main' by 1 commit”, etc

    (really only looking for terms that you personally find confusing, not terms that you think someone else might be confused about)

    @b0rk Merge vs Rebase vs Cherry-Pick would be a good start. Basically, I have to look up anything I do every time I do it. Don't know why I have such a mental block. It's just not conducive to being learnable for me (so far, but I keep trying!).
