The premier of Ontario sounds like a peevish teenager.

WOW - And councillor Josh Matlow has had enough...😳

Just one day after Pierre 's failed attempt to "bring down" the Liberal govt, the Conservatives have thrown a dead cat on the table and raised the possibility of former prime minister Stephen Harper returning as Minister of Foreign Affairs under a Poilievre government.
Clearly, Mr. Harper has been pulling PP's levers since he was elected party leader, are the Cons dropping the charade?

The #DougFord govt says the names of physicians and facilities found to have engaged in extra-billing for health services will be kept secret.

As of Jan 2024, there are 900+ private surgical & diagnostic centres operating in #Ontario.
If the Ontario patient ombudsman receives a complaint & finds a violation there is no legal process in place to compel those organizations to act on the ombudsman's recommendations and the findings will not be made public.

👉 Until Premier Ford took power in 2018, there was no carbon tax in

When joins his fellow conservative, Pierre , in the chorus to 'axe the tax,' remember it was FORD who cancelled the market-based cap & trade program set up by the previous government.

Ford then blew through $30M in a court challenge against the carbon levy - all the way up to the Supreme Court of Canada.

He lost.
Ontario taxpayers lost. Again.

Don Martin: The carbon tax coalition saves Trudeau from a loss of confidence

Poilievre's version of the Harper plan

And he’ll use tax hike opposition to promote his version of the five-point plan Stephen Harper used in the party’s victorious 2006 campaign.

Poilievre is echoing with a tax cut, a home-building frenzy, a fix for the fiscal mess and a crime crackdown.

@gemelliz think we are stupid enough to fall for that again??

"you can bet the Conservative push for an early election will continue & amplify as the carbon tax becomes increasingly toxic"
Isn't the point to slow down carbon production & mitigate environmental damage? Will the carbon tax be as toxic as this summer's wild fires?
Or crop failure due to drought /flood?

It's all a charade to win power.

Pierre has been raging on his 'axe the tax' soapbox for over a year & jetting around the country on his tours. Mrs. PP is even making money selling Axe t-shirts -ffs. And yet he ditches his "shining moment" to "bring down the govt" to attend a $1700/plate fundraiser on Bay St? We are being played.

Can you imagine Canada's surprise if PP is elected and his 'axe the tax' doesn't magically make everyone rich. 🤦

The government looking to build a medical school in and train future doctors at the Cortellucci Hospital site.
You many wonder why Premier Ford is not directing funds to grow existing programs as opposed to building an entirely new campus that will take up to 10 yrs to graduate first docs.
👉 Cortellucci/deGasperis hospital is named after 2 of Ford's largest donors & the hospital is part of Mackenzie Health, one of the highest-funded hospital groups in the province. 🤔

The Ford conservative govt says building fourplexes are “off the table for us” because there would be "push back from residents"

"Today, the Premier told Ontarians that if you cannot afford a single detached home, you're not welcome in your neighbourhood. This is a gut-punch for the millions of Ontarians struggling to afford a home." - Marit Stiles, NDP

Note: the new builds in the background are not 'fourplexes' - they're -approved single family homes.

gemelliz,

@Jgmeadows Doug builds what he knows (and likes) His world view is pretty narrow & he adores US-style living. Even if he's stayed in European cities, would he have noticed multi-level living with shared spaces, parks, town squares, coffee on a piazza, walk to school, frequent transit, car-free streets?
He strikes me as the guy would books a luxury hotel out near the airport. Send "the ladies" into town by limo if they want to go shopping.

gemelliz,

@Jgmeadows because he doesn't have to.

NEW - Premier Ford rules out allowing the building of fourplexes despite his own housing task force recommending it.
says his government will only focus on building single-dwelling & town homes.
“You go in the middle of communities & start putting up four storey, six storey housing ..there’s going to be a lot of shouting and screaming”
Yup, that's “off the table for us” because there would be push back from residents.

"for us" = Ford & developer buddies

gemelliz,

Campaigning on an anti-climate platform is simply obscene. is well aware that 2023 was the hottest year ever documented and records were broken for greenhouse gas levels, ocean heat, sea level rise, and glacier retreats.
