I have been using Thinkpads for years and been using Trackpoints. I love the technology, but we getting a bit of strain in my fingers, so wanted to try something else, so using a laptop with a touchpad instead. Finding that I kept clicking things by mistake. Thought there was something wrong with my laptop, but then found there was a setting for clicking things my mistake and it was called "Tap to click" and a similar one for right clicking. Both were on by default.

I guess I am one of those that prefers to click when I want to click and not have a slight touch of the touchpad register as a click. The touchpad has to differentiate between clicking, scrolling, moving, etc., so having everything with the same level of pressure seems likely to lead to mistakes.

What about you? Do you enable tap to click?

@glowingfirefly@vivaldi.net avatar

@jon I prefer Tap to Click and it’s great on macOS, and isn’t sensitive at all. However, on windows and more specifically, my Samsung laptop, I have to use an app called “Touchpad Blocker” that stops the mouse from moving when I type because without it, when I type, the touchpad registers taps all the time 🤬

The real issue the EU needs to tackle is the awkward period when a movie is neither in theaters, nor available to rent/buy. Looking at you, Boy and the Heron

I've finally done it. I've uninstalled from all my devices.

My browser setup will now be as my main, as my amnesiac and academic and (on iOS) as my main mobile, and Vivaldi on as a companion to the desktop version.

I've installed some PWAs as windows, but have shifted most to Vivaldi's web panels, this has actually cleaned up my !

The movie itself was critiquing the already present of people obsessed with their phones and the internet.

Microsoft finally removed the Cortana standalone app from Windows 11 in the latest preview build for Insiders in the Canary Channel.

@BleepingComputer RIP. It was better than Google Now and Siri at the time. A shame, in typical Microsoft fashion, they fuck up every good product.

@slashdot I know DuckDuckGo uses Bing primarily, but I imagine Apple would buy DDG and not Bing. DDG goes out of its way to anonymously redirect users to search results which seems right up apples way.

This is also interesting as Bing was/is heavily integrated in Windows Phone 7-10, Windows 8-11 and Xbox + Office.

I’m curious to speculate how Microsoft would go about such a route…

Malicious advertisements are now being injected into Microsoft's AI-powered Bing Chat responses, promoting fake download sites that distribute malware.

@BleepingComputer I understand why they’d want to inject ads into the chat bot, but it’s so stupid considering a lot of people genuinely think that these bots are more than just text.
