In high school (circa 2006) I discovered an open source social network project and got hooked.

I learned web dev
Started my own instance
Made and sold plugins
Became a better developer

Few months later, friends stopped using it, I lost interest. I moved on.

Then 8 years later I find myself running a statusnet instance on hyperboria and re-discovered the spark

Few years later I started Pixelfed, my own project. I'm so proud of how far I've come, sometimes I can't believe it. 2006 dan is proud

I feel like I've largely rebuilt the community I had on Twitter over here on and am just not interested in right now. I'm honestly disappointed that they deliberately chose not to have compatibility. Also, I don't really trust Jack, either. He very intentionally pushed for Elon taking over Twitter. Going to BlueSky seems sort of like falling for your ex again because they changed their name from Brianna to Bri and started wearing a leather jacket.

@vwbusguy this is not how it works. I've been on Nostr, and it doesn't require money/crypto to use it. And it isn't even crypto related. I am not saying it is wonderful, but keep the facts real.

@vwbusguy but this is not true. I can download any nostr client on fdroid and join right away. No money. And about usernames... it's optional, and twitter doesn't sell usernames (afaik only checkmarks), neither does nostr. Why do you need them? There are display names. It is just a protocoll with instances, I don't know why it is a big problem for you. + Like you wouldn't need a domain registered for money to redirect the string to the correct IP to your Mastodon instance in everyone's browser.

I've been playing around with . Polytoria supposed to be a sandbox platform ( alternative). I am taking a look on it, because it is working under . The game creator software of Polytoria looks promising. I'm into it!

I made a snowy scene in 30 or so minutes. Looks like we can't import meshes. I'm sad because of that. My experience was the Creator software is sometimes buggy at selecting bricks, applying shortcuts and is not so feature rich like 's, but at first look my conclusion it's not bad.
