We're in Maine for our vacation. I'd hoped that, a year on - and with a door between us and the cats this time - we'd be able to sleep, but no. Pip is especially needy, and was either screaming and batting at the door handle or, if we let him in, walking over us ceaselessly.

I'm going to need a vacation after this vacation just to catch up on sleep.

Got stuck in traffic near Chicago. Our car hasn’t moved for nearly two hours now… worst part - we are in the only lane on the entire highway that’s been stopped this entire time. And because of construction we are blocked all around and can’t get out

Ugh. Got very scammy-looking medical bills in the mail for my ER appointment in May.

The totals aren't particularly high, I can easily pay them. Problems tho:

  • I already paid while I was at the ER after they confirmed what I'd owe through my insurance plan.
  • The hospital never contacted me with a bill, no call, no email, their patient portal says I don't owe anything.
  • The bills are through very shady third party billing agencies with scam reports
  • Didn't get the mail till "final notice"

I’ve seen a lot of apocalyptic thoughts on my timeline and in the “Trending” feed lately.

I guess it’s time to bring back the piece I wrote in June as Canada was also burning, Trump was getting charged with crimes, my native Ukraine was facing increased attacks, and the tech world was melting down all around me.

Usually when I wake up in the morning I'm in pain from not having eaten for X hours.

This pain makes it harder to eat which makes it harder to address the pain.

I think a solution is to keep food by the bed so I can have a mid-sleep snack but:

  • nuts are too much effort to chew / too dry

  • fruit / sugared things would make me worry about my teeth

  • I would also worry about refrigerator items going unrefrigerated for hours.

Does anyone have suggestions?

@Cassandra Cheese is supposedly good for your teeth, and harder cheeses are, if not shelf-stable, at least more stable than soft cheeses. If you only put out a single serving's worth, it shouldn't be a problem.

Alternatively, you could keep some cheese in a little thermos or otherwise insulated container.

I'm sorry you're dealing with this. 😕​
