I clearly grew up in a parallel TNG reality where Data humanized the non-neurotypical, Geordi was a reading advocate, & Capitalism was acknowledged as backwards & primitive.
If I, a doctor, tell you that neuropsych testing has done the Conners the Wechsler the etc etc on you, and I am telling you they have documented reports indicating against an ADHD diagnosis
and I then say given this, my hands are tied unless I get contradictory data, and
I then send you a list of neuropsychologists to contact for a SECOND OPINION,
I AM LITERALLY SPELLING OUT WHAT I NEED to not look like an asshole to prescribe a stimulant.
@hannu_ikonen Don't underestimate the effects of pervasive barely sub-clinical brain damage from COVID19-induced microvascular inflammation in the brain, maybe? So many folks have had it and there's so much rage, careless/bad driving, etc out there right now I'd be astonished if there wasn't widespread cognitive impairment happening as well. (That'd be in your wheelhouse, I guess?)
One of my current favorite things to do is to put the liability of a tenuous situation back on someone else in proportion to their confidence.
That may sound rude, but what they are doing is actually offloading responsibility and liability onto me.
For example, in training, an a doctor may have misread an ultrasound, may have partially aborted the fetus of a psychotic impoverished patient, & may have attempted to displace the liability onto me, but I refused to go along / order methotrexate.

Problem is, we didnt win the civil war. We let the cancer of racism, injustice, & hate fester, secondarily metastasize.
Not a 2nd Civil War, instead a continuation of the imperial-colonial project where self appointed rich white blobs pit us against one another & make passive $.
Only total repossession of their plunder & deconstruction of the racist state is curative.

@rrb to be honest, I've become quite overtaxed with level of acting they try. Often I read summary reports, science articles, and aggregators I believe provide the widest coverage.
The news cycle wants more of my time than I am willing to allow. So I've been working to reduce the noise. I believe you, of course, they are unserious and terrifying.
I am a strong FAFO proponent. FAFO is the literal fucking essence of learning, growing (as in personally and in one's decision making, not the capitalist defintiion of cancerous growth), or at least facing consequences for unwillingness to do so.
Edit: I didn't like my framing so changed inability to unwillingness.
