@Various Fediverse features

Another FediGroups fact:

FediGroups is basically a "hack" based on Mastodon that recreates Friendica's most basic group/forum functionality on Mastodon. Each group is a Mastodon bot that automatically boosts everything that mentions it. And since it's all based on Mastodon, you have to mention the group in each comment unlike on Lemmy, /kbin, Mbin, PieFed, Friendica, Hubzilla, (streams) etc.

#FediGroups

hello,

@jrp @jupiter_rowland I'm sure you can do whatever pleases you.

I find that gup.pe doesn't work at all well with the many Misskey derivative, which can exclude your audience reach. Depends who you are targeting.

If you haven't heard, sadly, , one of the popular “groups” platform, is shutting down “probably” on February 29th.

In an email they sent to admins, the owner and developer can no longer support https://chirp.social financially as they failed to find a new job after they were laid off by last year.

So, if you have a Chirp.Social groups, either move to (https://a.gup.pe) (as suggested by Chirp.Social), or if I may, to (https://fedia.io), an [flagship] instance.

This reminds us the importance of having a built-in groups feature, and one where the groups feature actually federates.

Back in 2008, when the was born, we did have a built-in federated groups in / (today known as ). We used bang (!) instead of at (@). A built-in groups feature is more stable as established instances can host them.

Today, we have and (as well as -based instances) to fill in that, as groups is a built-in feature in those software products. It's just a matter of finding an instance that's open to hosting groups for any topic for the ActivityPub protocol.

That said, any Friendica, Hubzilla, Streams-based instances you suggest for groups?

hello,

@youronlyone Thank you for the mention. We really appreciate it.

hello, to mastodon

It's almost time. We're super-excited. is entering public testing now, before a full live launch.

Many of us have used other Boosting Groups, but they only work well if you follow from Mastodon accounts. We know there is a wider fediverse. FediGroups works with all the favourites, including , , , , , and more. One big happy family 👪

hello,

@jonny I do not understand the one word question.

hello,

@jonny thx!

hello,

@jonny I'm enjoying the back-and-forth.

In basic English, a question is not constructed of a one/two word statement with a question mark at the end.

Typically it is formed with a question word, maybe an auxiliary verb, but definitely a subject and a base verb.

I can hear you cursing me from here.

If you have no appetite for camaraderie, the answer to what I think you are asking: No

hello,

@jonny thanks for the vote of confidence, and support. LOL

The plan will be to open it up but right now it's still a work in progress. Letting other tear apart your work is a big step.
