Been thinking about piecing together a desktop PC for photoshop, Lightroom, podcasting, et al. I have a decent laptop, but it seems quite slow for the likes of photoshop. Are desktop processors that much faster than mobile processors these days?

@jerry I'd be more concerned about motherboard make, PCI lanes, and power draw since the graphics cards are in a different league on the desktops

    @lcamtuf I used to use one because I left my phone at my desk when I was making rounds around campus and I wanted to see any important calls or notifications. Also the health features were a bonus.

    @lcamtuf I generally like the “year in review” approach. I use it and don’t try to make my moneys worth or treat it as a toy. I just let it log and review monthly or yearly.

    Just going to say it: 2013 was the last good Internet. Full of arrow to the knee, chonky boi, overly attached girlfriend, do it for the vine, electro house, rage comics, bad luck brian, one does not simply walk into Mordor, taylor swift goat, etc. There has been no Culture since.

    Good morning to all of you around the #Fediverse today!

    For me, it's just the usual work stuff with a meeting thrown in around 12pm or so. It's a short one, so nothing major or stressful.

    After that, the wife and I are going to catch up on some TV shows and just relax.

    I've decided to give @fastmail a try and see what it's all about.

    While I'm happy with Gmail, I'd like to move away from it for various reasons. The main reason being to have a new email address where I hopefully don't get as much spam. I've had my Gmail account since the first day invites were a thing.

    I'd like to try and hide my email address a bit better if at all possible.

    I'm currently testing the free version. Not sure if the paid version is for me.

    @cliffwade @fastmail I hope this transition goes smoothly for you! I did a full switch over from gmail (since beta, I remember buying a beta key for $10 on ebay 😂) around a year ago to @protonmail While the privacy and encryption was pretty huge on my radar, the spam protection has been my favorite feature. I also love the ability to create email aliases with their SimpleLogin service to give basically each company a single address in case it gets sold/lost/stolen I can cut it off without worrying about losing any other email.

    I’m looking forward to seeing your take on FastMail as I haven’t tried it myself but I’ve heard a lot of good things!

    @cliffwade @fastmail @protonmail Totally makes sense, I use their VPN and Drive feature so I already paid for their plus subscription. It was a no brainer to use the email for me.

    I hate that when you click on a feature image to a link on @MonaApp, it opens the image, not the link. This is contrary to the behaviour EVERYWHERE else.

    Is there any way to change this?

    @kev @MonaApp I actually love this. I get baited into clicking the link instead of the image because I can't see it clearly on my phone. I switched to Mona to actually see these photos bigger without having to go to the source material lol
