our local pharmacy got taken over by some new people and they are utterly useless.

two months in a row, for both me and my wife, they sent the prescriptions to the wrong doctor. and now I phoned them up to ask whether our stuff was ready, and they never ordered it. they then tried to tell me that "many doctors do not take prescription requests from the pharmacy now" which is extremely surprising considering that's exactly how repeat prescriptions have worked for the last 30+ years.

Didn’t there used to be an open-access electronics / making things workshop in Bath or Bristol? Sort of place where you could pay a membership fee to use the facilities? Or am I dreaming it?

Anyone have any pointers? @jarkman or @jonty, do either of you have any ideas?

My son (21) is keen to do some building / making but our spare room is a poor substitute for a proper workshop.

This super narrow (2.7mm wide) addressable LED strip is the first one I've found narrower than 1/8" (3.2mm) acrylic. This means it will be easier to make thin edge-lit designs, like this rainbow, where the LED strip is embedded inside the acrylic.

A small rectangle of 1/8 inch thick acrylic about 4 x 2.5 inches in size is on a table, next to a narrow addressable LED strip. Inside the acrylic, pieces have been cut out in the shape of a rainbow, and the rainbow pieces held in place inside the acrylic frame by two rectangles of 0.7mm thick acrylic sandwiching all the pieces that are screwed together to stay in place. Hands pick up the LED strip to show it is narrower than the middle acrylic layer. Then two 7-pixel long LED strips, embedded in the middle layer of acrylic, and shining into the ends of the rainbows' arcs light up in a moving rainbow colored pattern. The light travels from the ends of the LEDs to fill the rainbow arcs with internally reflected light.

#makevember A coat watch, for when you are wearing too many coats and gloves to get to the usual one.

Printed TPU and a Casio W-86-1VQES, which is startlingly identical to the one I bought in about 1995 and which still works perfectly.

#makevember - heat-staked pyramids attached to fabric to give it a different curvature constraint in two directions.

This approach also provides a way to make many of the same structures that printing onto mesh can get you, a bit more laboriously but with more choice of fabrics.

#makevember TPU hinges in an ASA door. And a TPU latch which didn't work, because support material doesn't really work in TPU.

But the hinges are great.
