Dropped a piece of pasta on the ground so I went to toss it in my compost. It was too wide to fit so I broke it in half. One of the pieces went flying, bounced off something, and hit me just barely above the eye

That would've been possibly the stupidest way to damage my vision possible and I'm wondering if this was the spirit of Italy trying to take revenge on me for looking up vegan carbonara recipes

@MrHandyMan @fivey I've had my 80ohm DT770s for 14 years now and absolutely love them. I know closed-back isn't the audiophile preferred choice but I love the deep bass and isolation they provide

I'm pretty curious how will handle moderation once they allow people on their platform to follow users on the Fediverse

Like Threads doesn't allow porn but most of the big Mastodon instances do. Is Threads going to block those instances, hide their images/videos, or ban anyone that posts nsfw content? It's a very solvable problem but none of these solutions seem very good

@jcphoenix when it comes to old tech like this there are two things I've seen

  • It's worked since the 80s and is dirt cheap so for the love of God don't try to fix what isn't broken
  • It breaks constantly but the only person who understands how the system works refuses to modernize it and has too much institutional power to be overruled

It's really hard to tell the difference from an outside perspective

This is so baked into the modern internet that it's only weird once you take a second to think about it. Artists, musicians, communicators... we have literally no platform loyalty. None. If I could switch from instagram and make half a cent more without much effort I would feel zero compunction. It's just math. This is not how I feel about my book publishers.

@AwoogaGeneral I don't even like JS and I agree. Bash is a uniquely cursed language and anything more complicated than a backup script I write in Python

I'm even one of those sickos that likes regular expressions
