My lawyer friend tried to explain it to me before, but I still kind of don’t get why civil and criminal law is split. That seems unnecessarily complicated.
Anyway, the answer is probably unions, where the unions make it clear they know where management sleeps at night.
In the popular imagination of many Americans, particularly those on the left side of the political spectrum, the typical MAGA supporter is a rural resident who hates Black and Brown people, loathes liberals, loves gods and guns, believes in myriad conspiracy theories, has little faith in democracy, and is willing to use violence...

From what I’ve read, there are a few things that change people’s beliefs. Fact is not one of them. What your in-group believes is a big factor. So if we could murder fox news, we’d probably do the world a lot of good.
But the other thing that apparently can push people into reevaluating their beliefs? Horrific, personal, trauma. Someone who’s whole town was destroyed by climate change might be shaken up enough to rethink their world view. Maybe.
You could also maybe trigger the effect by beating the living shit out of a climate change denier, because being dragged out of their coal-rolling truck and being beaten so badly they’ll never walk again would be traumatic.
A 15-year decline in Texas teen birth rates slid to a stop—and converted into a modest increase in 2022, the year after the state Legislature implemented what was the nation’s strongest ban on abortion, according to new report from the University of Houston’s Institute for Research on Women, Gender & Sexuality.
I don’t remember if this is one of the pearl clutching boot licking communities that removes comments about violence targeted at people who harm all of us, so this might get removed, but:
A lot of billionaires are just people that can fall down a flight of stairs like anyone else. I’m honestly surprised during the Twitter shakeup no one just shot Musk in the gut.
There’s probably rules against porn too so I won’t describe him bleeding out.
People who say “keep politics out of” anything are usually stupid. Most things are political. Implicitly supporting the status quo is political. Leaving things unsaid is political.
Usually the people who pop out that line mean “keep politics that are different than mine out of”.
But on topic, punk is extremely political. For example, please review these lyrics from The Clash “Know Your Rights”, 1982
You have the right not to be killed
Murder Is a crime!

I’m pretty sure highways are bad for value. Do you want to live next to a highway? Do you want a business next to one? They don’t generate much foot traffic, which is important for economy and safety. They don’t generate a lot of “oh let me stop and look at that cool shop” because you’re on a highway. They’re also ugly. And typically noisy and with poor air quality.
I think I remember this being discussed in some detail in “Death and Life of Great American Cities” and “The Power Broker”
Also most citizens didn’t have a choice in their transit options. Further, a lot of people favor the current state even if it’s bad.
Yeah I often point at driver’s licenses when gun stuff comes up. Way more people need to drive than need a gun, but getting a license to drive a car is pretty tightly regulated.
If cars had been a thing when the bill of rights was written, we might have an amendment that read like “travel being necessary for the well being of the state, the right to drive vehicles shall not be infringed”. We’d then have absolutely pants on head stupid rules around cars. No licensing, no testing, no safety regulations. People would be driving tanks around. Cars would pollute even more. And people would frenzy themselves up with “but it’s my right!!!”
It helps I’m playing Fate, so it doesn’t require a lot of prep. My 2nd favorite system, CofD, also doesn’t require a lot of prep. Dnd’s math is so wonky it needs more prep.
In both of those systems stats are pretty constrained. A dude has like 5 health levels on average and you don’t need to scale things to player level like that.
I usually have a couple factions in the game that are up to no good. They can always start some shit by kidnapping NPCs or advancing their plots. Maybe today’s the day they dig too deep and a balrog awakens in Central Park.
Not to be confused with its cousin, Mage: The Ascension. For complicated and stupid reasons, there’s both versions. Ascension was first, then there was a reboot of all the games. That gave us awakening. There was awakening 2nd edition. That’s my favorite. But then for some reason, another company went back and restarted publishing the old lines, and made new versions of them?
As someone who liked CofD 2e a lot, I’m bummed they didn’t continue with it. I also think the heavy meta narrative stuff was kind of bad, and I preferred not having a strong canon.
I should probably read the new new WoD rules to see if I like them, but I haven’t had the heart. I actually bought print editions of CofD stuff.
If someone makes a new kotor game but uses the same extremely janky DND 3.x rules I am going to search my house for the monkey’s paw. That would make me so mad.
Honestly it’s a little how my mom talks when she gets upset. Just a stream of things that are loosely connected but are all bobbing along on the same river of emotion.
It’s how I get stuff like “You never call me you call your cousin he’s cheating on his wife you know just because you broke up with your girlfriend doesn’t mean you have to take it out on me”. You can kind of see how there’s a shared feeling or theme there but it’s not articulated.
I’m going to guess that for someone who produces output like that, input of that type goes in easily. They’re just vibing on the emotions.
Gods, it’s like some people never passed 10th grade English. Sometimes the important part of the text isn’t the literal meaning. There’s like metaphor and hyperbole and shit.
